Touchscreen acting up?

SO i just recently replaced my touchscreen, the whole screen (Digitizer + LCD) and i'm sure i did everything right but i also used electrical tape to cover part of the bottom so the light doesn't bleed out and make it ugly.. Now my touch screen isn't responsive at all, it's hard to unlock.. when i slide it it'll slide halfway and go back to the middle. When i'm using the keyboard some keys work and some don't for example my i's don't work along with many other letters including the backspace. What's going on? Is it because of the electrical tape? What can i do to fix this?
