Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
As long as you don't sign a new contract you can keep your unlimited data plan. You'll just need a new SIM card for the iPhone 4S. Just go to your local Verizon store and let them know that you're switching phones and they'll give you a free SIM card to use with the iPhone 4S.
I went from the Thunderbolt to the Samsung Galaxy S3 (which I bought off-contract) and needed a new SIM card for the S III. I took the Galaxy S3 to my local Verizon store and let them know that I'm switching phones from the Thunderbolt to the Galaxy S3. The guy grabbed me a new SIM card and activated the new phone for me as well. Plus I got to keep my unlimited data plan. - 07-29-2012, 03:30 PM #6
I would just make sure that the unlimited status doesn't fall off. I remember talking to them last year and they mentioned that switching between 3G and 4G phones could cause the change. Just emphasize that you don't want that changed, and you should be fine. Again, that's coming from a Verizon rep, so take it with a grain of salt.

I just switched my girl from the HTC Trophy to the LG Spectrum yesterday. (The Spectrum was what I had before the GS3) they put in a new card and activated it right there. Now while he was doing this he was burning my ears about the new plans but outside of that it was a smooth transaction.
And oh yea she still has her unlimited data.

Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
Why worry about the unlimited data? The iPhone data is so slow on the VZW 3G network (I know because I have one on my other line) that you'll never need the unlimited. Giving up a T-Bolt for the iPhone is like trading a Ferrari for a Yugo.
Also, if your friend did steal the phone it most likely will have been reported as stolen by now by BB and the Serial Number will be blocked by VZW. You'd be best off just turning it into VZW and claiming you found it. And then you might want to rethink your choice of friends.
And finally, I hate to be the English language Natzi, but seriously, the Ghetto talk is getting really old, lame, and played out.Thanked by: - 07-30-2012, 11:06 AM #11
Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
I'd really advise against dropping from a 4G device to a 3G, if maintaining unlimited data is a serious concern. There was speculation that that 3G unlimited data = 4G unlimited data, but this turned out to be false recently when details on the tiered family shared data plans came to light.
If you absolutely must have an iPhone wait for the 5 which supposedly is going to be 4G capable. As far as buying a new phone goes, if you want to maintain that unlimited data you have to buy full phone prices. No upgrade discounts.
Good luck.
PS - for those of you dealing with getting new SIM cards, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding the retail store. Go onto Verizon's website, they will overnight SIM cards to you for free (might be 2 day, not sure) and you can activate the phone yourself. I don't trust in store reps, they always fudge with the accounts. Plus they make you sign off whenever they give you a new SIM in store, so I would highly recommend avoiding that at all costs.Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon

Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
1. More than likely the phone has been reported as stolen by now. If it isn't, when they do inventory control and notice it gone, they will report it then being stolen and then see if it is activated. If you own the phone and it is activated....guess who gets in trouble?......YOU.
2. Might want to think about choosing better friendsWith this RAZR, I get a close shave

If that phone is stolen BB will eventually know by the ESN. That's how they know their inventory status.
If you think your friend stole it YOU are just as guilty as he is for using it. I wouldn't accept it. Its called KARMA and it will come back on you. Ask for proof that its OK to activate the phone. Have some guts and be of a moral code. You may not like what I am saying but you know I am right

I am not biased toward nor against apple (unusual, most love em or hate em from what I've rad) but I would never buy a phone with less than a 4.3 inch screen. That tends to rule.out any iphone for me.

Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
I've had so much trouble w my tbolt. Basically unusable.
Waiting for iPhone 5. Scared of the share your wallet plan. Have to buy the phone at full retail, $650, just to keep unlimited. But can verizon keep changing the rules and throttle at 1GB or something insane making it pointless?
I'm debating switching to a prepaid plan on virgin mobile, or straighttalk, or cricket.
I can't believe AT&T and verizon are getting away with the data gouging. LTE is useless. Can use up 2gb monthly allotment in 15minutes. It's only useful for the carriers to let them carry more data in the same bandwidth. Makes them more money.
Everyone else is slowly rolling out LTE as well. - 08-02-2012, 09:10 PM #23
Re: 4g lte/unlimited data plan ?
Actually, the TBolt's SIM is considered "mini" in terms of size, but yes, the S3 uses a "micro" sim, so they aren't compatible without modding.
That's what I thought, and would have assumed that you could just activate a iPhone online like any other 3G only CDMA device on Verizon...but maybe not? I don't know or really care for that matter, it's not like I'll ever own one!
