Touch Screen Problem

My Tbolt has had this weird touch screen problem which is hard to explain but I'll do the best I can. Lets say I am typing a text message to a friend. After about 15 seconds, 1 of 2 things happen. Either the next letter I press goes to some other letter on the other side of the screen or the entire touch screen dies, although the display is working, but anything I press doesn't work. I have tried virtually everything (battery pull, factory reset, even opening my phone) but I cannot seem to fix it. On my family plan we do have an upgrade, but I am hesitant to use it. Any solutions? Or should I just get the galaxy s3 and call it a day?

I have a very similar issue, and it seems the only solution, albeit temporary, is to reboot the phone. Unfortunately this bandaid doesn't last long and my touch screen problems show up quickly again.

My problem is that when I tap out texts using any keyboard, certain spots on the screen become "dead zones" and no matter how accurately I try to press a certain letter/icon, it just doesn't register. If it picks up touch at all, it goes to a letter/key to the sides of the one I wanted to push.

Example:

- Trying to push "e" key
- Registers as W or R most of the time.

- Trying to push backspace key
- Registers as L key a LOT

I am chalking it up to just another flaw in this supposed flagship device, another brick in the wall that is how poorly built this phone really is.

I've been looking into this issue for over a month. I've come to the conclusion that this phenomenon is due to a signal embedded within the network signals. It's called 'ghost touch', where your phone acts like it's possessed. Oddly enough it only seems to affect outdated smartphones, maybe so you'll upgrade to a new one? I really don't know who's behind it, or why. I'm just guessing... but it isn't any different than the jamming technology run by the military in war zones. So go figure. I just wrap my phone up in a home-made Ferraday cage when it's happening and stick to hot-spot wi-fi. When I block the signal, my phone works fine. An example... today I was having ghosting on my phone at home. I went to Costco and Target, and had no issues while I was in the store. The minute I stepped outside, screen went berserk and buttons were being pushed like crazy. Then 2 o'clock rolled around and the frequency stopped. When I go downtown it happens there between 10 and 2 during regular weekdays. That's what I get out of it, because it's not a software problem, not a hardware problem, not a virus. Good luck. When my touch screen starts acting up I just clean it thoroughly with glass cleaner and it seems to take care of it.

Thanks for your help, I tried your suggestions but it still did not work. So I ended up calling vzw and they are sending me a replacement. I have one concern. I did open my phone in hopes of fixing it and of course there was a void sticker I had to go through. Do u guys think that they will figure out because if they do I will be charged 300 dollars?

You can only hope. I never do anything that could void warranty. I don't have funds to cover a goof. Hope you will be OK in their eyes

Probably will be voided, but, seeing that the TBolt is no longer offered by Verizon to buy, my guess is that they won't care. They will probably just trash it anyways.

Next time, I wouldn't even bother opening it up...just send it back!

hi I just got the android tablet about a week ago and ran into the ghost touching problem and after countless hours of searching and trial and error, from a to z and finally took it apart and done more trial and error . happily I like to report that I fixed the problem on my android tablet
no more gost touches at all

I noticed the touches only happen when the sound was being used like the clicks and movies games then I muted the sound and little to no problems
took it apart traced the sound connections and found that a wire was touching the back (metal part) so I put tape over the steel back screen cover ,
put it together turned it on and all my sound, vwa la no more ghost touches . there I had this thing a week and I figured it out.

your fix might just be a connection inside grounding on another

I don't recommend tha average joe to try this,.

My Tbolt has already been replaced, but I've been tinkering with it. It got wet which is why I upgraded, but I'm using it as a wifi music streamer. The screen was developing dead spots which I blamed on its recent aquatic journey. When I opened it up to replace the screen, i noticed that the plastic circuit ribbon for the digitizer has a 90 degree bend that is not supported and mine had ripped. A new screen and digitizer from another tbolt has fixed the problem.
