A question about Google collecting data
When I updated to ICS earlier today, a question popped up on my screen that said, "Do you want to allow Google to collect anonymous data about your location?" I clicked "yes" and proceeded with the final stages of the update. I'm now noticing a significant battery drain and over-all getting leary about Google collecting this information. Is there any way to go back and disable this permission? I don't want to disable location services, as that helps with search and GPS.. I just want to disable this permission that I gave for Google to collect data. Thanks for any help with this!

Re: A question about Google collecting data
Yes, you should be able to turn this off. From google help: To disable anonymous location collection:
Touch the My Profile icon .
Touch the Settings gear .
Select About, terms & privacy, then Terms & privacy.
Select Location data collection.
Slide the toggle to OFF.
You probably need to be logged into your google account to do this. You can get to this from google maps.Thanked by: - 02-09-2013, 07:33 PM

Re: A question about Google collecting data
Sorry, my reply was not very clear or very accurate. As far as I can tell, in ICS on the Thunderbolt, you will need to turn off Google Location Services if you do not want anonymous collection of your data by Google. Looks like you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Re: A question about Google collecting data
I faced this problem then i found the solution it was very easy but i couldn't see it
Go to Setting > Location and security > and disable " use wireless networks " this is the option of "allow Google to collect anonymous data"
To be sure : after disable it try to enable it again it will say " if you want to allow Google to collect anonymous data press agree"
