Default Verizon HTC Thunderbolt - Transferring SIM card

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum! I am not very phone smart, so I have a question that may seem pretty basic. My Thunderbolt has gone down the crapper pretty quickly in the last couple of months, and I need a new phone to hold me over until I switch plans next year (getting married yay!) I have been looking on Swappa and would like to buy a Samsung Galaxy S3. From what I have read, I understand that my SIM card is too big for the S3, but if I cut down the card, will it work in the new S3 for me? Or, should I look at another phone to hold me over for a year? I appreciate your responses!

It should but you could just go to or call verizon and get a new one.

DISCLAIMER: I have not tried this.
Step one: Buy something like this - SIM Card Adapter - 3 Pieces - Apple iPhone 5S

    (2) Go to a Verizon store and ask if they can activate a new nano-sim for you. You'll need to find a rep who has at least a little tech knowledge. You want them to understand wht you are trying to do.

    (3) Put the SIM into the adapters and see if they work in your TBolt.

    (4) Go find your "temp" phone ("rebound" phone?)

    (5) You can then also use the SIM in your Thunderbolt as necessary.

Galaxy S3 drops calls. Don't buy it. Get an HTC One or an S4.

I am in the process of doing same thing after buying used s3 to replace my thunderbolt.

In the past, i could use the old sim in the new phone (verizon to verizon). Will verizon clone my sim card, or will I be issued a new ISMI number? Will that require I get a new contract (want to stay with my grandfather's unlimited one).
