Unless it has a better name. Yes! The EVO still remain sprint best phone, and the Thunderbolt is a replica of the EVO.

your a doof! im so tired of hearing this! because it has a 4.3" screen and a kickstand it is a clone? here are a few key differences.
    • latest gen snapdragon flat out outperforms evo
    • aluminum unibody construction
    • simultaneous voice/data over 3g
    • sense 2.5
    • 768mb of RAM

Actually besides the kickstand The TBolt looks more like a desire hd then an Evo 4g.

just let these guys with evo's think its still top notch just because its the only top shelf phone sprint can offer.
evo owners are like that guy that still holds on to his high school football career at age 50

The EVO crowd does have an iPhoneish like cult appeal, creepy. What always tickles me, is the talk of the TB "finally" dethroning the EVO like that didn't already happen with the Droid X or mytouch 4G.

I felt like both of those devices were superior. Every carrier, including AT&T when they finally launch the Atrix or the Inspire has a phone more desirable than the EVO. I do think its the best phone available on Sprint, at the moment. but that's just one person's opinion.
Back to Big Red. Sprint was tooooo slow

Back to the topic at hand...

In the mobile industry, 3 or 4 months is a long way away. CES brought a lot of cool phones to the playing field earlier this month. The Thunderbolt is going to be a pretty slick device. MWC is coming up in mid-February which will also bring some pretty awesome phones. I doubt HTC will be announcing anything similar to the Thunderbolt at MWC so as not to steal any sales from a device that still isn't out.

We may see them announce the HTC Merge. How cool would that be? An HTC 4.3 slate and a 3.7 slider in two months back to back.

We probably won't know what's going to be great in May until April or so. And in May, you're very close to hitting 3rd quarter. I may hold on to my upgrade till July if I were you. I imagine the second half of this year may bring some more LTE devices to VZW's lineup. I do believe the Bionic, Bolt, and that Samsung will be their only LTE's for the first half of 2011. Their sale dates will be staggered so the first two quarters will be covered.

Now far as TB being Evo clone you can't be serious. If you all talk about clone Evo is HD2 clone which we had in 2009 not in 2010 so thanks for being 7-6months behind the curve. If you take 4.3" display then you have DHD(GSM) and TB(CDMA) are the only option ATM as Evo does not even come as factor here. TB runs 2GS 1ghz while Evo runs 1GS, Evo has 512mb TB has 768mb. Far as the FFC/RC goes they are both 8MP/1.3MP.

OP if you wait for May then you will have access to other information regarding HTC device which they will push for dual core based.

It looks as though there will be other HTC devices this year, but they may not be 4G, it just depends what you are looking for.

I agree... and would also like to add the TMobile G2 (which I think is a better device than the EVO). This just goes to show that the newer generation Snapdragons outperform an EVO even if they are clocked at 800MHz.

The EVO owners really need to get over themselves and realize this is a different device. Just because it has a 4.3" screen, kickstand, Snapdragon, and similar HTC styling does not mean the EVO is on the same level. Stop trying to mislead people into thinking this!

Anyhow, back on topic. MWC is in February (11th) and then CTIA is in March. If I did not have an upgrade until May then I would wait until April to even bring up this topic! Everything will be different by then.

Heck, even yesterday and today there have been rumors of this slick looking HTC device. I am actually interested in hearing about that becase I prefer a slightly smaller screen size (about 4").
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me

I just saw that there are two new leaked HTC devices... which will likely be the way I am gonna go. I REALLY wanted the TBolt but NOT with an additional cost for 4G. Give me a new 3G HTC phone and I'll be happy.

yea i wanted to wait it out for all the conferences to show whats coming out before i make a decision. but iv been waiting since nov 20, 10 to drop att an iphone3g. bolt is still my top pick. im in a 4g area so verizon is my top pick an as long as pricing is decent this is where im goin. i have to have phone by end of march due to wife is sadly still on her parents family plan an they are finally taking her off in march lol. but i might stick with a year contract at least for my line if i can split them like that

Evo is a "replica" only in the sense that they share the same vendor and body style.

Otherwise tbolt has next-gen proc, more memory, next-gen sense UI, and next-gen GPU.

Just because a slab phone has a large screen does not mean it's a "replica of the Evo"...

Ok back to the Original posters question.

I believe that on Verizon the Thunderbolt will be the best HTC phone for awhile, prolly a year atleast.

I'm not so sure about HTC's best phone for an entire year. It'll probably be the best HTC phone on Verizon for a while, but I'd imagine HTC has some big plans this year and am not so sure any one phone will stay on top for any more than a couple/few months at a time.

Pretty certain you'll see a HTC phone late this year with the new Qualcomm 1.2 GHz dual core processors.

With the whirlwind of news outta CES, this was a great little tidbit that got overlooked by many.

Sorry thats what I meant, lol, I dont see VZW killing this off quickly like they did the eris. But if the Bionic gets 3.0 quickly It could mean another OGD vs. Eris situation all over again
