Is Thunderbolt going to be using Gorilla Glass??
I havent seen any info in this so I'm guessing the answer is no, but does anyone know if the Thunderbolt is going to have Gorilla Glass? I don't like using a screen protector and thats one of the reasons I got a Fascinate.

DOn't think so. My guess it will be the same glass as the incredible. That's ok with me, the inc is pretty well made glass.

I thought someone mentioned in a different thread (I can't find it right now, maybe it was on a completely different forum altogether) that the screen will be made of some kind of improved glass that has some additive in it or something that makes it more scratch-resistant...
Can someone else confirm or deny this? - 02-09-2011, 04:58 PM

no HTC products use gorilla glass so I doubt the thunderbolt will be an exception, unfortunately

we're not sure exactly how they choose what to display on there, but i specifically remember last month when i got my Atrix, i checked that same webpage and it was not showing a single HTC product. now, it's showing a couple HTC phones that was released last year like the Evo 4G, the Incredible, and the myTouch 3G. which is why i think most people have assumed that HTC does not use Gorilla Glass at all.

I've read that there are very restrictive copyright/trademark issues and that company's who contract to use Gorilla Glass (Corning) are not allowed to advertise it as such without paying a fee (i.e. Apple). On the other hand, Corning, obviously retains the rights to offer their "customers" up as a reference.

I guess that explains why HTC stopped sending out the emails that they "were using Opaque Aluminum-Silicone Base, called Gorilla Glass ..." and started saying that they weren't really using Gorilla Glass. Corning probably wrote them a very threatening letter.
I honestly just thought it was essentially the same substance as Gorilla Glass, but it's been actual, real Gorilla Glass all along. Still, it's amazing how overrated Gorilla Glass is. It's users just had brand bias. If they didn't know it was real Gorilla Glass (just not branded as such), they thought it was inferior.
Someone ought to do a double blind test on several samples of GG, regular glass, some off-branded opaque aluminum-silicone base glasses (ones definitely not made by Corning), and maybe DragonTrail glass and see how all of them compare when bias is eliminated. Obviously a lot of samples would be needed (and could be used to compare how much performance deviates on each type of glass). - 04-05-2011, 10:59 AM #23

Wow, that's surprising to see. I have a Stealth Guard on mine right now (WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN), but am not sure I want to take it off.
