Root will be available within a week, but the first root is normally only for the fearless as it usually involves complicated adb commands. Not saying you can't use this method - we all learn it eventually. But the easiest method is a one-click root which usually takes one to two months
If you want to grab the earlier root, then start learning adb tonight

No, it had root pretty quick. What it didn't have for a long time was S-Off - and that's a completely different animal
