    Default Computer Doesn't Recognize Phone

I cannot get my phone to be recognized by my computer. The SD card will not show up on my drives. I want to add music but don't know how apparently. Help?

Did you make sure your connection type is disk drive instead of charge only?

May not work if the phones drivers are not installed?

Try going to the HTC website and make sure you have the latest drivers for the phone. From there the easiest way test to would be to but the phone in in disk drive mode from the settings/connect to pc menu.

Changed title to something more appropriate and descriptive. Anyone doing a search is probably not going to search for "Am I ******ed"

I had this problem with a Fascinate. Turned out that the SD card was bad. All it would recognize was the driver portion of the card, I believe it was 8MB when it should have read it as 16GB

I'm having this problem as well, except the driver install failed (ADB didn't install?). I tried switching to a different USB mode and again it tried installing drivers again, but again it failed (ADB and something else). Now it won't try installing drivers at all and when I connect it it connects as a CD. All I can see is the directory with the Modem Driver installer. I tried installing that and it seemed to install but I still can't access the phone.

    Now what?

Are you using the USB cable that came with the phone? Any old Micro usb won't always work.

It's working now. It's showing up as a different device/drive than the CD drive that I didn't notice before. When it's plugged in it add two drive entries.. on for the "CD drive" directory and one for the SD card.

I know this seems like kind of a silly question but is it connected directly into a USB 2.0? The reason I ask is, that on mine, I cannot connect to my Dell XPS16 through a cooling pad's pass through usb. It will charge the phone, but will not recognize it as a disk drive. No matter what I have selected on the phone. And just for some further specifics, it is an older USB cable and not the one that came with the phone. I have yet to open that up yet.
