Long Press on an empty part of the screen that you are looking to add a Widget to. Go into HTC Widgets and choose one of the calender ones.

No problem. But FYI, there are tons of widgets out there. Look around, check the market place. Itll blow your mind! You can totally make the Android's screens unique.

Main home screen-Minimalistic text, icons from XDA or someone's dropbox changed using desktop visualizer

Other screens-Pandora and Scoremobile transparent widget mods from XDA, Google search widget, HTC calendar and weather widget. Twitter was Plume widget but I just tried Tweetcaster and that is pretty good. I love that you can try so much stuff and save it for later or delete and try something else in minutes without rebooting or slowing down the phone.
