Looking for an app that disables the screen lock when the screen timeout is reached and only allows the screen to be locked with the power button or other widget. Coming from a bb storm2, and a nice function was that the screen would time out but not lock the display unless the lock button was pushed making for easier checking of incoming texts. Did a search and did not find what I was looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

I am also interested in this as my last phone was a bb and I liked that feature. I also find it annoying how that when the phone locks and I go to unlock it I have to drag the bar down and then draw my lock pattern. Is there anyway to get rid of the pull down lock and just have the pattern lock?

You should try No Lock on the market. Allows you to turn on the screen with the power button and volume rocker without having to swipe down on the screen to unlock.

Just downloaded no lock and it works but not exactly what I'm looking for. I like that it let's me use the volume keys to wake up the screen but it completely bypassed my pattern lock screen. I just want an app that A) let's me wake screen with volume keys, B) bypasses pull down lock screen C) keeps pattern lock in place. Any such app available?

Still not quite what I want. Want to let the screen time out but not lock unless I hit the power button without the volume rocker waking it up when its in my pocket. Any other app suggestions for that? Thanks

I was looking for the same thing. An app that lets only the power button lock my phone.

What I found works for me is an app called "No Lock."

I don't have any raised buttons on my phone, it's all touch screen, so when I have No Lock set to "lock disabled" and my screen times out, it's as good as locked when in my purse (since there are no fingers in there to touch the screen, hehe). When I want to turn on my phone, I push the power button and on comes my home screen. Now when I'm at home (I work from home so that's most of the day) I don't have to unlock it whenever I want to check/use my phone. Yipee!

I tried no lock too. I only wanted it for the convenience of replying to messages. Go sms has the ability to reply to an incoming message outside of the lock screen. I like it a lot. Go sms is a ton more customizable than the stock app as well.

    Try widget locker.
