K after one week of owning this bad @$$ phone i finally see decent battery life. Everyone here mentioned moderate to heavy use but then again everyone has their own definition of moderate and heavy use so i will break it down for you all.

Changes I have made:
Blockbuster App (i can easily compare this to a v12 engine on a car) i never upgraded it and simply disabled updates, battery life was still crap and it was frustrating me thats when i checked the battery usage i had pvmsoftareserup (however its spelled) was eating 74% of my batt. Went ahead and updated blockbuster app then i disabled the updates and that made a day and night diff for me.

Display: I have display on 27% which is not that bad TBH

Gps: Turned off

3g: running 3g even though i have 4g available in my area and it doesnt go back and forth. ( i dont need 4g to make calls or to check my fb and emails or to text). I will try a battery run with 4g tomorrow and update.

Auto update/sync: i check my fb randomly throughout the day so why update every so often just update when you check it. Emails come in every hour im a business owner but coming from bb i prefer email updates every hour because with bb i was constantly getting those emails and even though i didnt want to check them i did anyways because of email alerts. They did get annoying after all, it was one of those cant live with em and cant live without em situations.

Bump charge: tried it 4-5 times in a week out of frustrations never got instant green but i figured there was no harm in trying.

Juice defender beta: make sure to download the beta version.

So making all those changes here is my usage in detail.

I charged my battery full last night at 7:30 pm EST and now it is 1:05PM with battery life of 23% still remaining. 17.5 hrs of use in total.

Talk time: roughly 75 mins.
Texts: 18-20 sent and recieved.
Fb: 15 mins max.
Web browsing: 15 -17 mins.
Streamed music from pandora: 35 mins
Bluetooth on: 45-50 mins.
Gps: 1 min.
Bad service area: my gym gets no service so i was there for 2 hours and network was going from no bar to 2 bars constantly fluctuating.
Played with market place and apps: 10-12 mins
Emails: 7-10 mins reading nothing sent out.

I think i got most of it covered and this is my moderate use. So i guess i will be keeping it and all this with the stock battery and no mods. Hope it helps most of you. Any questions ask away.

I have AMAZING battery life with 3G, but once you hit 4G, it goes down too fast IMO

From what I've been reading quite a few people are saying that if you are in a true 4G area and your phone doesn't have to keep switching from 4G to 3G the battery should be the same as your having right now. I don't know how true it is cause I'm still in a 3G area. I have seen quite a few posts and blogs that have said that.

i'm in a good 4g area as i have always had 4g signal. my battery was still draining like mad but i am pretty sure it is caused by an app. anyone know how to see exactly what apps are used either battery or data? i'm trying spare parts right now but its not as informative as i would like.

I'm in a 4G area and it still flips from 4G to 3G like crazy, hell...even when I locked my phone into 3G there are times where it will flip between 3G and 1X.

IMHO, the 4G network just isn't ready yet. They need to roll out more antennas to be reliable like the 3G network. Once they do, I am sure battery life on 4G will be the same as on 3G.

I live in a 4G area, and would say that my phone is on 4G roughly around 90% of the time (once in a while when im traveling it fluctuates to 3G when I reach the fringe area of 4G coverage) and yesterday I was on 4G all day and still got about 16 hours of use out of my phone before I decided to charge when it reached 30% battery left, so I would tend to agree with those that say this.

I agree. I bought the extended which is awesome. Can easily run 4G all day long. I was in Vegas over the weekend watching games in the Sportsbook while streaming them to my phone via my Slingbox practically all day.

When I returned from Vegas, I tried my stock 1400 battery again. I did the Blockbuster update and uncheck thing and still got the same old 5-6 hour capacity, even with what I consider light to moderate usage (a few phone calls, emails, and web stuff) and no streaming. I have no friend stream or other battery sucking widget or anything like that and my brightness is at about 20%. So sad.

After the battery ran out, I charged it full and switched OFF the 4G. Its now been 16 hours since I charged and I'm near 15%. That is with similar use as my 5-6 hour post-vegas test above. Now, granted, I was sleeping for 8 of those hours but no charging and I have my email set to wake the phone every 15 minutes and check. I got the phone on day one and this is BY FAR the best stock battery experience so far. I'm in L.A. so I get pretty good 3G and 4G lte coverage

I'll see if I can repeat this. If I can, I'll go back to 4G to see if it still is the main culprit in my battery suck-fest. 4G is great, but I don't need it on all day, especially if I can get double the hours.

Makes me wonder how much battery LG's 4G VoLTE phone is gonna suck...battery.

Display: I have display on 27% which is not that bad
Whenever I see exact percentages mentioned like this, I wonder where you are seeing it. On my ThunderBolt, the only screen that shows me the battery percentage is after I select a level in the "Power Saver Settings" | "Screen Brightness" setting. This setting does not control your screen brightness during normal operations. Only during "Power Saver" operations, which is if your battery gets below the predetermined low-level setting.

The normal screen brightness setting (i.e Menu | Settings | Display | Brightness) doesn't show any exact percentage.

Am I missing something? Do you have a brightness percentage app?

Go to settings, power, power saver settings, and look there under screen brightness settings, and it should show you screen brightness in a % ... unless this is just specifically for power saving only when the battery is almost out, but mine is showing 20% which Im pretty sure is accurately where my screen is at
