Thunderbolt/Verizon travel to Shanghai?

will the Thunderbolt work in Shanghai? I'm guessing no? What do people do about their phones when traveling overseas? I think I remember reading something about Verizon offering temporary phones to use when traveling? Is it worthwhile? Or should I just bear with not having a cell phone for a week in Shanghai? It will be for work, not vacation, so probably not too big of a deal.
