HTC Mail App Keeps Prompting For Gmail Password

I seem to be having an issue when syncing my gmail with the mail app? I keep getting this message that my gmail password is not correct and am prompted to re enter it. I still get my mail but the message is annoying.

I tried clearing the data, and the problem went away for a few days but its back again. I know HTC Mail may not be the best app, but I do like using it and want to avoid forwarding or using a 3rd party app if possible.

Do you use 2 stage authentication on Gmail? If so, you would have to generate an application specific password for it.

i had that problem too for awhile. one way to solve it is to just use the gmail app.

I know, was kind of hoping to avoid that... I mean the stock apps should work, right?

When you are prompted to enter your credentials, are you entering your entire Gmail address as your username? (i.e. <username>@gmail.com)

The stock app has been working fine for everyone else as far as I know. I've not seen even one other issue reported here like yours. I'd recommend deleting your email account on your phone entirely, reboot, and recreate. Have you tried that yet?
