if no Backup Assistant, then which app replaces?

Hi All,

I've been reading and trying to learn what it takes to root (the TB I don't have YET), and have just finished reading the thread on apps to stop/uninstall/leave alone for longer battery life.

One of the suggested apps to avoid setting up for longer battery life is Backup Assistant. If so, then what would be an alternate app for backing up one's Contact information...and, does that app require root or not? Thanks!

If all your contacts are synced to your Google account, they'll sync back to the phone just fine. I haven't used Backup Assistant since I got my Incredible last year and realized Google does it better.

Just make sure all your contacts are set as Google contacts and not phone. If you're on a dumb or feature phone though, you may want to do the Backup Assistant thing, then go on the Verizon Wireless site, download your contacts from there, and import into your Google account. Them, when you get the phone, and input your google acct info, it'll automatically bring them all over.
