Thanks....I was using this one before I heard about the beta, but I just can't live without the mic function.

What are some of the issues she is having with it?
I just downloaded it yesterday and am loving it, no issues that I have seen yet. If I had to say there was a problem, it would be that there are no "colorful adjectives" in the db by default =P. I vent over text alot =) - 05-02-2011, 04:56 PM #5
hahaha,
i was using the mic to text a friend about soccer practice & the mic picked up the wind howling so it wrote out "f*** the kids up at practice, we need to condition more with passing" instead of "let's run the kids, we need to condition more with passing"...that was a lengthy clarification afterwards - 05-02-2011, 05:23 PM #6
Personally, I prefer the EVO version, which works great... linked in Post 2... but as most know it does not have a mic like clintro wants.
The issues I've seen with the BETA version is it will not auto-capitalize or auto-space in the default SMS app... and after a reboot most times the keyboard will basically become a manual keyboard, until you change to a different keyboard and switch back the Swype keyboard.
Some people said Handcent will work with the BETA keyboard, but it works very well with the EVO version as well, and I don't have to change keyboards after a reboot and then back again to get Swype to work... I can live without the mic... I want Swype. - 05-02-2011, 08:34 PM #7
I'm really liking the HTC Evo version of swype and installed it the first afternoon i had my bolt. I had not read up on any official Beta version so didn't even know there was a mic to miss ; ) And as fun as it is to swype i would have to ask myself why i would want to speak into the phone instead of swype!? And if there was really a reason to speak into it i could switch easy enough to the stock HTC kybd and use the mic.

Hey all. I'm the "friend" who is having the problems with the beta swype.
I was wondering how to explain the issue, but fatboy (that just feels wrong to call you hehe) nailed it. The kb stops swyping and will only let me manual press. I've discovered that if I switch inputs back to stock kb, then back to swype, it works again. So this is just more of an annoying issue. I guess I should let the devs know.
Thanks project, for the link. I think I might try that.
Oh, and here's something strange..rebooting doesn't fix the problem..weird?Phone - Storm 1 to Droid X to Thunderbolt and REALLY lovin'it

Ya, I've reported it to the developers on Swype along with a LOT of other people... they seem to think it's a HTC issue, but HTC will not work with a single user (only devs of the app)... again, I reported this also to Swype devs... I like Swype, but I really don't like the dev staff's poor response to the issues.
I'll stick with the EVO version until someone reports a fix, either with a HTC software update, or Swype fixes their app... either way I'll wait until someone reports all of the issues are working. - 05-03-2011, 02:23 PM #10
Just experienced that same issue quiverskeep.

been having the problem off & on recently.
many have found it only happens after installing/removing an app--which seems to be the cause of it on my device, at least.
i'm surprised how often i've used the mic, though. it's definitely a nice feature of which to take advantage when you need to text something quickly - 05-03-2011, 03:26 PM #12

Mine only requires the "input method" switch back and forth after a full reset. I have never had it happen when removing an app. Funny thing is that sometimes after a reset it works fine, other times it requires the switch back and forth.

Non-beta Swype alternative
I have been using SlideIT for quite a while since I don't like using things marketed as BETA and am very happy. It works great, doesn't lose functionality on upgrades, the mic option works, and it is generally a well thought-out app.
Just my suggestion.
