I ran tune in radio pro 128kbps stream on 4g and it read 360ma with screen off. Same with 3G ran about 260ma. Used tune in radio pro because it runs a constant stream. Of course, different speeds may yield different results, i just wanted to use a constant stream to do the test. On idle, 4g and 3G run about the same. Wonder if anyone else has run similar tests and if so, what your results were?

In idle, I see a difference when I turn off 4G.
I am in a 3G only area, but on the fringe of a 4G area. I suspect the 4G radio is trying to get a signal occasionally, thus using some power when in idle.

I live in a STRONG 4G area in So. Cal. I can tell you with out a doubt, 4G just uses the battery, heavily. Same phone, same software, same location, same usage patterns; on 4G 150--300mA battery usage. Using LTE OnOff, switch to 3G, 30-150mA usage. SUBSTANTIAL difference. I have tested repeatedly, over the last two weeks (this is a post OTA phone), this is consistent, location has little or no bearing.

When on Wifi, battery is also awesome, just like on 3G. Great battery life.

I do not live or work in Fringe 4G, it's solid in Orange County, Ca. 4G just sucks the battery.

With the standard HTC battery, 4G lasts about 7-9 hours, 3G last about 15-18 hours. Again, same phone, same battery, same locations, same usage patterns.
