I kept hitting the power button (seemingly worse on the Verizon model) so I found this app which places a thin vol bar hidden on the side of the home screen etc. It actually works pretty nicely once you set it up right. It can adjust the vol or bring up the vol overlay by just sliding your finger up the very edge of your screen and it doesn't need to add anything to the notification panel which is nice. Not for everyone, but it's an alternative, and free if it helps anyone the link is below.

Hey dude.
i haven't got my phone yet, just ordered it like 5 minutes ago anywayyyyyyyyyyy I am not 100 percent sure bc I like everyone else have read so much info on this beast, i recall reading that in videos and stuff sliding finger up and down on left side of screen changes volume and other side brightness or visa versa. Like I said maybe i was high on coke and have it wrong but I recall some stuff like that.

Not that I can see, at least on the Verizon Model. The ATT model has the sliders in the pull down notifications bar.

Thanks for the Volume app. Love it. Way easier than the back facing buttons. Also, unintrusive

Have you noticed that when you are playing music, videos, maybe even in a call ( haven't check yet) but the volume slider DOES appear in the drop down shade?? I was happily surprised!

Yeah I was actually going to post that whenever there is continuous sound the volume slider is in the notification dropdown.
