Yes I know I can root to do this. I want to know if there's a non-root workaround that allows you to edit the APN settings to get data internationally while using a foreign SIM card.

I've noticed not everything is locked and the menu is still openable so maybe there's a sneaky workaround.

If I find anything myself I'll edit this post.

you gotta rub your head and pat your tummy at same time.

you tap the version line in "about".... 5 times and it brings up developer mode and EDIT the apn from there.. or its something similar. dont have it near me

I've figured it out now that I'm here in Europe. Once you've inserted a non-Verizon SIM card, the options to add APNs opens up.

Proof:

That icon is an ongoing notification stating its a non-Verizon SIM. No root or carrier unlock was necessary, but root might be recommended to remove the notification.

TheAssailant can you list the steps you used to get a non verizon sim working?

I know I need to go here:

settings > connections > more networks > mobile networks > Access point Names


That's all I know.
