Samsung Galaxy S4 and XLTE

According to Droid Life , the S4 is XLTE compatible. However, it appears that the S4 is not on the list of devices that can access XLTE.

Why? Is VZ trying to "encourage" us to upgrade devices?

I am in a "roll out" city, but only getting d/l of 1.89Mbps and u/l 2.75 (via OOKLA Speedtest, just now). Thats HORRIBLE!

I reran it and got 9.33 down and 2.62 up.

If you aren't on a plan with unlimited data, be aware that you can use up a good bit of data running speed tests.

But are you on an xlte tower? And does your phone have the latest update? Not all towers in the rollout cities have xlte.

I compared my wife's S4 and my mother RAZR Maxx HD side by side at the same time the S4 downloaded about 30% faster but the odd thing is that the RAZR went up 12% than the S4. I ran 10 tests over an hour and the results held every time. I want to do it again in a couple of days to see if I can get different results. Well keep you posted.
