I have 5 lines on Verizon, 2 were grandfathered in, 2 are regular phones, the fifth line I added on the 7th to get my brother a smart-phone. I had to settle for 2gigs for 30 bucks. Until today. I added the hotspot feature to that new line and was super surprised to find out that by adding it I now have unlimited data on that line. According to the rep the unlimited data will stay on that line even if I choose to remove the hotspot. Let me know if that works for anyone else.

Are you sure it didn't carry over from your own plan? I mean hell, if this is true, then I will sign up ASAP.

The unlimted should only b on the hotspot. The phone will still have the 2gb or double up if u did that. and your bill will b 60$

No moosc, the unlimited is on the line itself. Trust me on this. Try it you've got nothing to lose.

i was dumb enough to NOT sign up for unlimited data when i knew it would end soon.
I should really try this!

So basically you got a new phone, got 2that data, and added hotspot which made it unlimited?

Thanks OP. This really works!

I had 4GB per month initially. It took me a few tries, but I was able to get the unlimited data on my Bionic.

Sounds like you were somehow able to add the unlimited hotspot which since it is meant only for unlimited data lines it somehow changed the feature code. It's a glitch and I am sure they will find and fix it soon enough.

does it still work? I plan to get an iPhone to try it out. I wanted the GN but no one knows the release date.

Damn, well there goes that plan.

What VZWRocks says about the glitch is probably accurate and/or the csr was careless. The $30 Hotspot option is only intended for those that already have unlimited data plans. They have other data plans that include hotspot for those that are tiered and the csr probably neglected to use one of of those plans.

If it's really important to you, you could always buy an LTE phone and tell them you want the $30 Hotspot feature. If they add it and your data plan is switched to 29.99 unlimited as a result, your golden and can return the Nexus and add your Iphone.

You may have to pay the $35 restocking fee, but think of it as a lottery ticket that may pay off.

At&T had a glitch (and they still may) where people could activate the original Iphone 2g. Get Unlimited data and swap to a newer phone, keeping the data plan.

This can probably be considered the Verizon equivalent. It's a glitch, a careless rep or all of the above, but you have nothing to lose.

Not too important. i switched to At&T and I only pay for 2g of data and voice plus my discount of 20%. I had planned on upgrading to the 4G data since I only do web browsing and occasional app download. i would've went to T-Mobile but they didn't have the GN

Should I just do the iPhone trick rather than get a Verizon plan? I like ATT HSPA+ speeds.

Man, it's so tempting, but I don't like Verizon's Android phones since well they're bloaty and it'd probably be a hassle just to get an LTE phone, activate the hotspot and unlmtd data, get rid of the hotspot, return the LTE phone, and get an iPhone.

Absolutely no Android phone interests me on Verizon except the GN but lord knows when it'll be out.

I would have to call to get the hotspot or can i do it online ?

Not working for me but ehh. Im probably doing it all wrong.

edit: i called and asked for them to add the 30 dollar mobile hotspot. i had the 10gb 50amonth plan.theyadded it and when i went to check i had 5gb/unlimited in my usage, check the plan details and i see email+web unlimited 30 a month.

idk how to explain it, but it works. i guess luck too?
