Re: record for data usage
The most I ever used was 15 gigs... But I usually average around 10.

20gb a month is absolutely nothing.

Re: record for data usage
20 GB/mo is nothing, especially since people are starting to run their households off of VZ mobile hotspots. If you have the fully-paid 4G unlimited legacy plan with hotspot and minimum voice plan, which runs like $105, you're paying like $5.25 per GB... that's ~$3/GB less than what VZ is charging new customers, so strongly suspecting VZ is going to kill legacy unlimited plans down the road. Until then, party on Wayne...

Re: record for data usage
Spot on.
Additionally, it's one thing to use a lot of data, it's another to be actively trying to break your record. Are you going to leave it on at night streaming just to use extra data? Maybe that's not what you meant, but, that's how it comes across. - 03-05-2012, 03:16 PM #13
Re: record for data usage
My normal usage with my iPhone was around 2-3GB. I'd say that's normal. Maybe 4-5GB on an LTE phone. I can't see spending hours on the phone downloading movies and what not, especially when most of these people have a broadband internet connection.

Re: record for data usage
Usually i use around 5gb. Got my transformer last month so that went up a bit with mobile hot spot around 11gb right now. But thats from downloading apps and it was new so i was always on it as far as people trying to just use a bunch of data is childish grow up all your doing is hurting other people in the long run. Ur not going to win a prize for hitting 50gb in a month

Is this activity like a game or hobby for you (OP)? Maybe I just don't get it but I don't see the point of your brag. Is there one? If you need it that's one thing, like the people who travel but just to see if you can one-up yourself seems like something that accomplishes higher rates, throttling and tiered plans. I don't see this kind of entertainment as a good trade-off for the consequences we all pay.

Re: record for data usage
I don't think so. For every 1 person paying $30/month and using 100+ gigs, there's probably a 1000 using 1gig and paying the same amount. That only averages out to $27/gig. Even if the ratio was 1 to 100 it would still average out to $15/gig.
Verizon is just trying to pay for their LTE network.Last edited by wes-txt; 03-30-2012 at 09:26 AM. Reason: Forgot quote.

That still do sent matter. Comcast has a cap of 250gb and they enforce it. I'm fine if vzw throttles at 20gbs, that's more than I use with unlimited, which I know that's more data than they throttle at. But over 50 gb a month, that's excessive.
