Insurance Coverage Question

So I bought a phone on eBay, activated it on my VZW account a couple months ago. While horsing around with my 3 year old, I dropped the phone, and my son was unaware the phone was on the floor, and before I could grab it...well, the phone now has a crack across the bottom. Yes, I'm blaming my 3 year old.

Does anyone know if my Asurion Insurance I pay for will cover fixing or replacing the phone? My best guess is no, but thought I would ask anyway, before I bother going directly to VZW. Thanks!

Very unlikely, unless they somehow don't realize it's a second hand phone.

Yep, I'm guessing they will not. Thanks for the reply. I'll be curious to see if anyone had any luck with a similar issue.

Call Asurion or go to and check. If your insurance never lapsed when you added the 2nd hand phone, you may still have coverage.

If the phone still works you'll probably be able to add insurance to it, but you will probably have to keep insurance on it for 30 days before making a claim.

Yea if your still paying they will. You can add insurance to ANY phone within a 14 day period. Just don't mention you got it on eBay...

I believe Asurion knows what kind of phone u have insurance on and will only replace that one. If u happen to have insurance on the dropped phone, they will replace it minus the deductible.
