Don't have time to Google the link, but there's a Cnet Q&A article on the new Verizon plans that says Share Everything is the only thing Verizon will be offering new customers. The current individual plans will be gone. (Article link was posted in the Rezound forum a few days ago.)
As I've said upthread, I don't see how Verizon could offer 5gb for $50 to individuals but just 1gb on SE, so it makes sense that the individual plans will go.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is replacing current plans
Well yes, but right now the great majority of individuals who don't need unlimited talk/text can get talk, text and 2gb for $10 less a month or 5gb for just $10 more. Point is 2gb/$30 and 5gb/$50 data plans are going away and for an individual (or really anyone) 1gb for $50 blows.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is replacing current plans
For reference:
If I am a new Verizon Wireless subscriber after June 28, and I don't want a share plan, can I sign up for one of the old individual plans?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. All new Verizon Wireless customers will only be offered the Family Share plans going forward. That goes for individuals as well as families.a.k.a. RyZR from HoFo

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is replacing current plans
Just heard from my inside source and the Q&A info has turned out to be wrong.
Thus, this thread has false information.
The Individual and Family plans will still exist for new customers after Share Everything launches.

For some reason I went to see if we could save any money by going to the share plan.
I got on Verizon's site to start a new plan, picked 5 smartphones and it wanted me to add a data package to every phone and, ended up being $830 per month.
That's over $500 more than we are paying now. WTF is what went through my mind and what happened to the share everything!

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is replacing current plans
frugal use of 300 megs are you kidding me, thats setting someone up for overages up the rear, My wife has a one week old Razr max and has used 358mb downloading free ringtones from Zedge, a couple of books from google play and a couple of google maps for driving directions. I understand the gist of your posts, its not all that bad for many. But the reality for enough of us is the same level of usage will cost more. No excuses its pure and simple Verizon saw that they were not making as much with their current plans than they can with the new, they did NO ONE any favors.

But current users aren't being forced to switch to Share Everything.
And there are a few examples of users here that can actually save money switching to Share Everything. Of course, most here would be considered "power users" but they are not the majority of Verizon's customer base.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
by not being forced you mean we have a choice to pay full price for our phones from now on to avoid losing our unlimited plans, we have a choice of not changing any of our contract on any of our lines because that would allow Verizon to re-do our contract pushing us to the shared data. Your right we are not being forced we are being led by the nose

You're also not being forced to be a Verizon customer.
If you have unlimited data and you upgrade, you have to switch to tiered data. And that doesn't mean that you're forced to switch to a Share Everything plan.
If it bothers you so much, speak with your wallet.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
Like I said sure you dont work for the V? You seem to be ready to defend their every move and castigate anyone who differs. As many others have found out in many areas Verizon is the only game in town for 4g having 4 lines myself and family in other states all on Verizon ala friends and family on my 10 available. Jumping ship is not a viable option, however voicing my opinion in the hopes some day some random Verizon muckedy muck will peruse the forums and see that unlike you there are some people who are not getting the Verizon dream. Maybe he or she will shrug and say tough luck or maybe they will try a little harder to make more money without jabbing their current customer base in the rear. Voting with your wallet worked before the multinational conglomerates, now its just p--sing in the wind.

Again, I do not work for Verizon.
Apparently anyone that isn't as upset as you must be working for Verizon.
There is misinformation out there. The only thing Verizon is getting rid of is grandfathered unlimited data if you buy a phone with a subsidy. I'm just setting the record straight.
Read Phil's editorial about this. It's a good read.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
I am trying to sort through this information as well. I am planning on switching to Verizon from Sprint (for the network), but really want to compare the Share Everything to the Family plans.
I just need two Smartphones and 4GB of data. With the Share Everything, that'll be $150. Where are the Family plans so I can compare? Do they still exist, because I can't find them anywhere on their site. Or as a new customer, do I not have a choice now? - 06-29-2012, 09:16 AM #44
Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
I looked on VZW's website and only could find the choice of Prepaid or ShareEverything Plans available to new accounts, even for single lines of service. Now if you are a current customer and log into the site thru MyVerizon that may open up new options.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
Were you to read the post above you you would be led to believe that the family plans are there. As a new subscriber your only option is shared data plan period. With a good idea of how much your data usage is buying the minimum that covers your usage may or may not save you money. With an eye on the possibility of more usage due to better network and greater useable apps in the future you may need to over buy initially. Good luck the system is good.

Re: New Customers: Share Everything is not replacing current plan
Yeah, so as a new customer, I don't really have a choice. I'm on Sprint now and paying $123 for 1 smartphone + 1 dumbphone, but at least I get unlimited on the smartphone. Looks like I'll be $30+ more for an additional smartphone and 4GB
I only need about 2.5GB for me, and the other phone is for my wife who really won't use the data much since she is a stay-at-home mom and doesn't go out much so she'll be on wireless most of the time.
My bigger issue with Sprint is the slow speeds and the coverage area since I travel a lot in rural places so I frequently lose signal while my co-workers on Verizon maintain one. Guess it's worth the money to me to switch. - 06-29-2012, 11:46 AM

Weird. If you start the process by trying to preorder a Galaxy S3, you can get the options to choose an Individual plan.
