Default insurance & buying phones from alternate sources

I'm once again suffering from a heavy duty (but not quite severe yet) case of new phone lust and the object of my affection is a Galaxy S3.

Because I am no where near upgrade time (well over a year to go) I would have to purchase the phone outright. Much to my own disbelief I've actually cruising the Marketplace here, eBay and Craig's list. Can't believe I'm doing that but I am. I want to take advantage of Samsung's upgrade offer and even with that funds are tight right now.

Anyway --- if I were to purchase a phone off one of these alternate sources would I be able to just transfer the insurance I have through VZW on my Rezound to the GS3? If not, what's involved?

Yes your insurance will transfer but if anything(software or hardware) goes wrong with the used phone you buy, Verizon will not replace it meaning you will have to make an insurance claim with asurion. This happened to me when my Nexus could not hold a data signal and would drop calls, I took it into Verizon and they stated that there was nothing they could do because I wasn't the original purchaser of the phone so I ended up making a claim and now I am fully covered because the phone came from them =]

Did you have to pay full price?
