    Default Which Verizon smartphone?

Going to switch from Sprint to Verizon around end of November. My contract with Sprint ends 11/21/12.

I am looking at the following:

    Moto Droid Razr M
    Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Moto Droid Razr MAXX (old version)

Trying to stay at around $100 or less purchase price. The Razr M is tops on my list but I wondering if I will be able to Root it and put a custom recovery on to get rid of bloatware. The Nexus would be my #1 if it wasn't already a year old phone. The MAXX with it's big battery is also tempting but it too is falling behind spec wize.

Do you have any specific preferences to what features you'd want the most?

What kind of user are you?

As far as I know, you can't put custom recoveries on Motorola phones. Spec-wise, the Maxx is pretty close to the M.
Maybe you should wait till Black Friday and see what kind of specials they have. Maybe you can get a GS3 discounted closer to $100-150. All of the new phones coming out will most likely start at $199.

You can put custom roms on Motorola phones fairly easily, I would go with the razor maxx.

The only issue with the Maxx is the older 1.2 ghz processor and larger body shape than the "m". I originally wanted the Gnex but maybe there will be new one this fall?

I would probably follow the "wait till black friday" advice. I got two Tbolts for free the day after black friday from best buy. of course, I now know that I should have waited a bit longer. the Razr M looks pretty sweet for the price, but if you could get the Razr Maxx for around $100, I would do it.

It seems like hackery is the most important feature to you.

    Just get the Galaxy Nexus.

Or $299. Verizon phones are never cheap it seems! If $100 if your max then i would also wait it out until Black Friday. If you need a phone now...I'd get the MAXX personally. Battery life is hard to beat with the 3 models.

If the RAZR Maxx HD is $299, I don't think they will be able to compete. Since Verizon started the share everything plan, has any phone been $299? I think part of the reason they lowered the prices slightly on contract was to get more people to the new plan. Even the SGS3 was $249 for the 32gb model. Hopefully, we won't see any more $299 subsidized priced phones.

Most likely will go for Droid Razr M unless there is a good deal on the Razr HD's, Nokia Lumia or a new Nexus.

I too have an upgrade to burn. Got my current phone for $.01 so I'd like to continue that tradition.

I ask myself "Self? How low will they go with the GS3 when Black Friday comes? Self, probably not low enough."

Unless the GS3 is offered for $99 or less I'll likely just get a GNEX because hackary is important (but so is performance and camera) Thing is I could pick up a Gnex now for $50 so is it really worth waiting?

I think I'll have to wait just in case Wirefly.com or Amazon Wireless etc. does something nutty - I'll kick myself for being to impatient
My guess is that someone/everyone will have the GNEX for $.01 or less and I'll get it and use the $50 for an extended battery and case.

I'd go with GNexus.... I'm using it right now and I can tell one thing: Android will never work smoother on any other device other than those from the same manufacturer which is Google. I had a SGSII before and I had many issues all the time, like problems selecting text, crashing, not to mention waiting 1/2 year for an ICS update. GNexus is always the first phone to get updated.

You may be able to find a black Friday deal on the 16gb GS3 for $99. Doesn't the GS3 come with a micro SD slot? I have a Nexus and love the fact that it doesn't have SD storage. If I had a 16gb version and an SD card, I would use the card storage strictly for ROM backups, ROM downloads and music. Should be plenty of space left on the phone for apps.
