How is data speed?

Hi,

We are looking at moving from Sprint to Verizion next month. The price with our data usage looks good, actually a little cheaper. The big question is how is data speed for LTE. Are the networks so over-saturated that performance suffers? We are in the SF Bay area.

PS. In case anyone is wondering Sprint performance is terrible unless you are in one of the few cities with LTE. 3G data on the LTE phones is in the 100Kbps range.,

I am going the other way since I mostly have LTE with sprint around me.

I cannot speak for your area, but the speeds are awesome, anything sounds like an improvement for you at this point though...lol

I'm west coast (north Idaho) which is not saturated at all... Rural. The speeds I get on a regular basis are 10-17 mbps up. The slowest speeds I get are 4 mbps or so which is still fast enough to game on line or download large files rapidly.

I know it's not San Francisco but I love the lte and wouldn't go back if I had to. It's totally worth it.

As a side note. My wife with her Iphone 4s is always stealing my s3 to use the 4g as it is light years faster for surfing.

I have had a 4G LTE device from Verizon since the Thunderbolt and I got that the day it was released! At first speeds were jaw dropping! I'm talking 60mb/s and higher!! Over the past 2 years the network in my area, Central Florida around Orlando and Tampa, has become very populated but I can still get 20mb/s during peak hours and 30-40mb/s at night. For you it seems even the 20mb/s will be a major improvement!!

Whenever I visit the SF bay area, my Verizon 4G LTE coverage has been excellent.
