    Default Employer discount question

Im on a family share plan with unlimited data that is month to month and when we signed the contract my wife's line was main line bc her employer discount was higher than mine. But if I now get a higher employer discount and wanted to make my line the main line, would they try to pull something saying I have to get a whole new family shared data plan now thus voiding out our existing plan? Thoughts?

On side note...just read article stating vzw will start to ask for proof of employment starting April 1st and if u don't have proof u will have 60 days which means June 1st will be some people's end of discount date.

    Lame.

Oh well. The discount was nice while it lasted.

You would have to call the assumption of liability department and have your wife give permission for you to assume responsibility of the account. You would also have to agree. After this was completed, your wife's account would be closed and a new account would be setup in your name with the same plan, features and phone numbers. You would then register for your employee discount under the new account number.

You mean in the past you could just say you worked for company XYZ and they gave you a discount without verifying your employment somehow?

You have to verify employment to get discount.

No. You've always had 30 days to give them proof. You had to give them a pay stub that showed your name and the company's name.

I don't think its actually different. Verizon has always required proof.

The rumor is that they are going to be asking customers to reverify by June. Those that have changed employment will lose their old employee discounts.

Got it. So will they have people reverify periodically? That seems to make sense.

Ya so when we got on discount you show proof but that was it...so if u got new job/quit/got fired you could still keep discount but now you will have to provide proof. As far as periodically..assuming yes since that is only way to keep track.

Seems like alot of work to change account holders discount but worth it! Just hope they don't try to pull a fast one n say we can't get you unlimited data anymore!

Ouch, I didn't even consider Verizon doing this and I doubt they will but wow. I would give up my discount before unlimited data though.
