    Default My Verizon Smart Rewards

Anyone else get this when they log into their account? I didn't sign up right away because I want to know what it is for, but I can't seem to truly find out what "discounts" and "rewards" there are with the plan.

I did sniff around the 'net and apparently it's rolling out in limited states right now. Ohio is one of them, to which my cell phone number's area code is based, but I live in Florida now, so not sure how that works.

I can't answer your question yet. I was trying to do some research to find out if I was going to start getting spammed or hit with telemarketers on my cell line. I live in Michigan (just moved from Ohio) and received the "smart rewards" offer.

Here is the key issue many of us will have:

Is there a fee to participate in Verizon Smart Rewards?

No, theres no fee to enroll in the Verizon Smart Rewards program. You may be required to enroll in Verizon Selects before you can register for Verizon Smart Rewards. Youll be prompted to join during the program registration process.

    ------------------------------------

In case anyone is unaware of what Verizon Selects is:

    What is Verizon Selects?

Verizon Selects is a program you can choose to participate in that uses information about you, including your location, web browsing and app usage data, to see whether you fit into an audience Verizon or another company is trying to reach. If you choose to participate in Verizon Selects, you may receive marketing messages, offers and other content that interest you more than what you receive today. We wont share information that identifies you personally with any non-Verizon companies.

Verizon Smart Rewards Auctions are such a scam..you can't win and they are truly a waste of your time.. I am actually leaving Verizon when my contract is up for partnering with such a scam.

The NBA is more legit than Verizon auctions. It is the biggest scam in the mobile industry...there are no winners, the winning names are fake.

I got that when I logged into my account. Signed up since I was leaving Verizon anyway and wanted to get what I could before I left. After wasting several hours of my life I can't get back clicking on the auctions I saw several patterns, all of which are easily programmed:
    1. When you bid on a auction with lots of time left, you are the high bidder for a while. Makes sense, not many people are going to bid on something a few hours or days out.
    2. Even if it is not an 'extended time' auction, it usually becomes one if there is active bidding. Once again could be programmed, maybe not.
    3. Even for the most worthless of items such as a $10 gift card the bidding follows a pattern. If you do not bid, the clock winds down closer to zero. If you bid a few times then there is a bidding frenzy and you are rarely the high bidder, no matter how high the bids get. If your activity slows down so does the other bidding. No matter how high the bidding goes there is always 'someone' else bidding against you, and when you quit bidding because you have other things to do, the auction usually ends a few minutes after that. "Oh, if only I had kept going. . . "
    4. Check closed auctions for the total of the bids on items you are interested in. They are usually low, but when you actively bid the total can easily go to five or ten times the previous auctions for similar items. That does not follow normal human behavior, but it sounds a lot like a computer program to me.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

I am so done with Verizon.

After looking into it and seeing what you can do with these points I have realized that it is only worth it if there is an item you want to buy and would like a little bit of a discount.
Items for sale are only discounted by an amount of points. You still need to pay with your own money for a product.
Auctions are split up into points only or points plus money (USD). If you are only wanting to do the points then you will see that the only items are mostly Verizon GC's and Restaurant.com GC's.
There are also sweepstakes but you need tickets to be in it and those are given daily for each time you log in.

If anyone has found some value in this please let everyone know.
