The $50 reserve gc should stack on top of the standard deals and trade in promotions that run throughout the year.

You may also be able to stack on top of a price match, ymmv. I picked up a note 2 on contract for $37 in February 2013. Sam's Club had it for $98.88, had best buy price match it. With the $50 reserve gc, it would be $48.88. The csr messed up the price match for me so I was able to get it for $37.

Didn't they stop price matching for on contract phones, though?

they have been doing this every year for a few years now. You may be able to get them to give you a $50 gc in order to prevent a return. As long as you are in the return period, you can return, so they would be crazy not to do it.

This involves my UDL so I probably won't even mess with all that return stuff.

They did for a while but their current policy only excludes contract phones sold by online retailers. So you can price match local retailers. Ymmv, some best buy like to make up rules on the fly. Keep in mind price match policy is subject to change at any time. Also, I have heard of some stores pm to amazon even when corporate policy didn't allow it

Don't give up on Best Buy PM, even when they turn you down the first or second time.

Yes you can, if you return the phone (and pay applicable restocking fee), and reorder after the $50 reserve gc is available.

What happens if you don't open it or activate it, do you pay a restocking fee?

Well, my note 3 wasn't shrink wrapped, so do way to really tell if it was opened or not. Verizon's terms make no exclusions for not opening or activating

but Verizon can tell if it has been activated by the IMEI and if it wasn't shrink wrapped they can't say they know you opened it.

yeah, but others here have posted they didn't have to pay the Verizon restocking fee if the device had not been opened or activated. I don't know about Best Buy, though.

You would have to ask best buy that question.

Verizon may not charge you but they are within their right to do so.

I think the only time Verizon doesn't charge the restocking fee is if you cancel a new contract within 3 days and return an unopened/unactivated subsidized phone.

I would assume that if that was the case, then the "unopened/unactivated" thing wouldn't matter since they always (unless you ask them not to) open and activate the phone right away.

I wouldn't think BBY would charge restocking, since they removed restocking fees from other returns a while ago.
