My question is... what about existing lines of service that have never been in a contract with them? Haha.

Doubt that would count - I'm sure they want a completely brand new line =p

If you don't need the phone number, you can cancel that line then start a new line of service.

Yeah, unfortunately two are my parents' that they need, and the third is my roomate's dad's. Dishing out new numbers to (old-ish) parents would not be worth it haha.
