How can I get out out of my current contract while avoiding ETF fees?

No this will not void your unlimited data. The plan is called the Nationwide Loyalty Share 550. I personally dropped down to this voice plan on my account with 2 unlimited data lines last year.

Also if you feel like you'll be going over 550 or 700 min, you can upgrade to the next tier anytime during your billing cycle on myverizon or by calling in. The next billing cycle you can go back but for the 550 plan you'll have to call in and have a CSR do it.

*you didn't have to call in and wait for 30 min - could've simply changed to the 700 min plan online :)

ETA: Have you worked out how much 2 smartphones and 2 basic lines would cost on the share plans?

$80 for 2 smartphone line access
$60 for 2 basic line access

Plus your data package

$50 for 2GB is usually enough

Total would be $190 before taxes/fees but unlimited minutes and texting.

I hope this made sense!

I already pay $190 now while I have unlimited data. Why would I drop down to 2gb?

Edit: My bill will be $170 starting June 23rd since I switched from 1400 min to 700. I still have unl data though on 2 of the 4 phones though.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it but I think if you 'assign' ie. sell your whole plan to someone else, they are not entitled to the grandfather clause of Unlimited Data.

FWIW, I tried to hold on to it but ended up dropping it and I never regretted it. Unlike this damn HTC One on VZW. It's like a small prison with aluminum walls instead of bars.

So you are saying if I transfer my account over to someone else they won't inherit my unlimited data?

You can move to the 550 minute loyalty plan to save an additional $10. You can drop unlimited text which is an additional $30 savings (assuming unlimited text on all lines). Smartphone lines can use Google Voice to text for free, but from a different number.

Any idea on what text plan I could choose, I can't find the prices online. The 2 smartphones (5s & 5c) text the most, more than voice calls. The other 2 phones (mom & pops) barely text and use maybe 60 minutes of voice a month each).

For your needs probably not. If you move to more everything on 10gb on contract then you are looking at 2x$40+2x$30+$100=$260

Moving to the unsubsidized plan you are looking at 4x$15 + $100 = $160. Keep in mind that even though you are saving money per month on the plsn, that you would have to pay full retail for phones. So you would have to pay $650 for the iPhone 5s instead of $200 subsidized (currently $100 on sale). Currently you can get smartphones on all 4 lines of service, and can sell the extra phones that you don't use.

There is a 6gb/$30 plan that Verizon may allow you move to from unlimited data. But I don't really see a reason to do so at this time since there are loopholes to keep unlimited when upgrading.

So the plan I'm on now is the best deal and I should keep my unl data? Starting June 23 my plan will be $170/m for 700min, 4 lines, unlimited data and text. Down from 1400. Can I move back up to 1400 if I ever needed to?

The unlimited text for all lines is $30 me . if you can live with 1000 texts per line, you can get that for $10 per line.

Sorry getting confused here. Are you saying I'm currently paying $30 for unlimited text on my 4 lines (3 smart & 2 basic phones)? I checked my bill for the last 12mo and all 4 lines combined averaged 2700 texts. I think one time it was under 1000. I'll prob have to keep the unlimited texts I guess.

I was on the nationwide talk and text 1400 plan which said it said cost $100 a month. I though unl text was included in that $100. Now that I just dropped down to the nationwide talk and text 700 plan (I thinks that's what it's called) doesn't the plan drop down to $80. The rep said I would save around $20 for dropping down from 1400 to 700?

Unlimited text as an add on is $30 . There are different plan packages, you would have to look at your bill to see what plan you are on. The account access fee for the Nationwide t&t 1400 is $100 . the account access charge of the 700 plan is $50, but no texts included in that. You would have to add $30 more for unlimited text on all lines. So with this option, you can put text plan on individual lines if Desired.

Now there is a $80 700 minute talk and text as well which is probably what you were moved to. Depends on your needs.

Ok so the account access fee went down from $100 to $80 from the 1400 t&t to 700 t&t. Removing t&t would drop you to $50. Then you can add the 1000 text /$10 to the two lines. That would save you $10 more. If you need more text then that, then you won't see any savings over your current plan

Yeah, the access fee is probably all I'm going to save on. All 4 lines combined use around 2000 texts a month so I cant go down. Thanks for telling me about the 700 minutes though, you saved me $20!

... You shouldn't! You asked in another post if it would be cheaper to move to the share plans. I was just wondering if you'd worked it out to see that you wouldn't save any money.

Yes, you can move back and from the 1400 min whenever you want. You can even do it yourself online.

Doing an AOL by selling your unlimited data plan will transfer over to the buyer. Search eBay and Howard forums for yourself to see the astonishing high prices.

GV will work for both smartphones only. If you're not interested in giving out a new number to friends and family, there's a way to port your number to GV and then request a new number from Verizon online. You have to do it a certain way in order to not incur an etf from Verizon. Search thru Howard forums or here for step by step instructions.

Note that GV does not support mms / pic texts. Honestly, see if you can be under 550 minutes to save $10.

Out of all of four of you, does no one have any kind of employee discount? There's a webpage where you can put in your company email and they'll reply back whether or not you qualify.

So your bill reflects that Talk & Text Plus Data $20 Discount on two of your lines. I didn't get in on that promo but I thought the requirements of keeping that promo was having 1400 min and an unlimited texting plan. I'd search around or call in to make sure that $40 discount doesn't get taken off.

Sorry not trying to scare you but there's hundreds of pages online about this deal and one thing constant is not to downgrade.

Truly, call in and verify! Have someone notate your account because it'll be really hard getting that promo back.

What about the other three people on your account? If one of them qualifies for the employee discount - make them the account holder, with you as a account manager and no change in the payment method.
