Trading in phones to Verizon, how do I know if I will quality for a rebate?

Trading in phones to Verizon

Tried trading in a working smartphone, but told I couldn't because it has never been activated. I thought I had read that any working phone qualified for a rebate. Anyone know if that is correct?

Not sure. Is is a phone you could just pop your sim into for a little bit?

This is a way for carriers to weed out potentially nonworking devices as well as ones that have been lost/stolen and had software modified to show an altered device id.

Thanks, just found the FAQ section for trading in phones & they were correct. Back to the drawing board
