virgin mobile - jelly bean
Sorry to be an ***** - but been searching on google for this. Will virgin mobile htc evo v 4g: Will it get jelly bean?
- on virgin website, an apparently random guy on Q&A said "no".
- There is a online petition to get it. (Why a petition if it's coming?)
- Sprint evo 5 4g phones seem to get it (on push now).
Appreciate an longer answer if the answer is "no". (Why not???)

No, there will not be an official update.
If you want to root and s-off then you can install a Jellybean Rom.

Keep dreaming.
Virgin has only ever updated one phone since release.
Samsung Intercept. From 2.1 to 2.2.
Not one other phone Virgin has sold has ever been updated to a higher version of Android while they were selling the phone even when Sprint versions went much higher.
ALL phones have had severe issues and bugs that have been well documented... and fixed... with a simple update. Virgin never bothered. Best example? Motorola Triumph. A lot of its signal and gps issues were fixed by throwing an updated rom on it. Virgin never bothered.
You will never see a full Android update for any phone on Virgin. Patches might come out every now and then to fix serious issues (the EVO 3D patch took more than 6 months to show up and that was only to fix the damned Radio Interface Resource Shortage issue that never should have existed in the first place)... but you'll die of oxygen starvation if you decide to hold your breath on updates for Virgin models.
Historically, they don't update phones and making a petition won't do a single thing.
Re: virgin mobile - jelly bean
I have a VM Galaxy S2 4G that was on ics 4.04. Last night I fired up Kies and it said there's an update. I am now running Virgin Mobile Factory Jelly Bean 4.12 !
Re: virgin mobile - jelly bean
They say lower end devices with low memory, but the EVO has 1 GB Ram!

The fact that it didn't go OTA is saying something...

The EVO 3D is also no longer sold. Virgin has absolutely zero incentive to update a phone will not net them any new sales.
Re: virgin mobile - jelly bean
I've heard the 3d camera is broken in certain roms, is this the case with the jellybean rom?

Yes. This is because the camera app on the stock ROM is only meant to work with sense 3.6 and ICS. It will most likely never work with jellybean unless HTC were to release a JB ROM with a newer sense version and rebuilt camera app to control the 3d cameras. Which is extremely unlikely.
