I'm running into occasional lockups with this ROM - when the phone is trying to awake from standby by sliding open. Everything hangs for a good 5-10sec!

A task killer might be needed - did not observe this behavior on stock phone.

I was looking around and I saw this video.
It looks like the OS is running a lot smoother on stock (atleast in this video) then it ever did when I was using stock :o
    I'm confussed :o
Maybe I just have a bad phone?

A bad phone is unlikely, but possible, I've had some bad phones before. What i think is more likely statistically is you have a bad app. You may consider data/factory reset from recovery and starting fresh. This suggestion doesn't make any sense if you're going to just toss all the same apps back on but if you are going to invest time into determining a possible cause, then that's a good place to start.

    I've already addressed this - http://forums.androidcentral.com/vir...ml#post1404579

If someone ever puts a task killer on an Android ROM I've worked on, I ask that they please do not post in my ROM thread until after the ATK has been removed, and they've rebooted your phone. Please keep that in mind when making your decision as i do not offer any form of assistance to people who use task killers.

    correct,
however the only reason I felt that it might be a defective phone is that it had the same problem on stock as well with no extra apps loaded.
And it doesn't seam to be a problem in terms of UI performance on other phones in videos I've seen lol

Try full wipe and clean flash and see what it does for yah. I'll edit this post in a bit and maybe you can check out a version that moves dalvik cache to /cache rather than /data will should free up some MB's for app installation. Win/Win, you get to see if a full wipe fixes your UI issue and i get to see if the cache mod works

EDIT - HERE IS THE DOWNLOAD LINK
The only change i made from the version you tested yesterday is an addition of a dalvik cache to /cache mod.
download, backup, full wipe, flash. Will take a while to boot because it will need to create the dalvik cache so be patient. As always, no warranty

Quick Question while my phone takes 2 century s to Finnish.
instead of compiling a whole new kernel for the phone, since the optimus V and slider are so simialer can you just edit a few entries in the code for an optimus V kernel like adding a keyboard script, led light, etc and then just throw it into one of your roms?

Quick update on this - I tried the ROM first without wiping, then with a wipe - observed the sluggish behavior in both scenarios. No task killer was used.

Went back to stock for now - got SetCPU set to ondemand - working nicely.

Not sure what to tell you. This ROM is just not for you, and that's ok. Thanks for trying it though.

Drew has the kernel piece. He could provide insight, I've heard a little bit from him but i know he's busy with all kinds of projects but he is still working on it. The good news is his kernels are pretty damn nasty so I'm sure once he has a tester available it will be buttery.

Hey, I appreciate you getting a ROM up though - don't want to sound unappreciative!
I'll be here, testing new releases and giving my results.

Looks like you made this forum the place to be for Optimus Slider h4xing, KSmith. Thank you!

    Flashed over your latest rom
Extremely laggy UI is still there :/
which baffles me seeing how its not apparent on other phones and their using stock
did see a good memory increase though

And it lagged like hell on stock too? Man i dont know dude, if your phone lags while it's clean and fresh you may have a bigger underlying issue.

I'd suggest you try cranking the CPU back up to 800MHz, like LG did, but thats how it came stock and you said it lagged on stock so your phone isn't smooth even at 800MHz which is an issue.

The Optimus V kernel (or even the Optimus S kernel) will never work on the Optimus Slider because the hardware is just a little too different.

The CPU is technically different (and needs a little different OC hacks), the Wi-Fi chip is different, the camera is different, and I'm not 100% sure what else. In short, any Slider kernels will need to be build from the official Slider kernel source.

Now on to the issues I'm having with LG's Slider kernel source:
    1) It behaves strangely when compiling with GCC 4.6. I'm about to install an older version of Ubuntu on my HP server and see if using GCC 4.5 solves the issue, but:
    2) The kernel built fine the first time (with ZERO modification, 100% stock source). Any subsequent compiles failed almost instantly, producing very cryptic error messages. Furthermore, when attempting to change/set the "machine type" in the configuration, there is no option that isn't a desktop PC platform. GCC 4.6 could be the issue, or LG sucks. Or both. I guess we'll find out soon.

    Exactly,
like I know the kernel is botched buttt the UI shouldn't be this bad.
But I also downloaded seePU and the processor never completely maxes out when window animations are happening..
    faulty GPU maybe?
    eh :/
I ordered a new phone from virgin.

Feel like trying 1 more build? It wouldnt require a wipe or anything, just flash over top. The goal of the build would be to assist the UI a bit more.

forced launcher into memory to prevent redraws
upped the maximum events to smooth out scrolling
    raised jpg quality to 100%
raised dalvik heap size to 48
    decreased dial out delay
couple tweaks to save a bit more battery
disabled usb debug notification in the status bar
    increased responsiveness of touchscreen
The changes you had from before (this is for my notes lol)
    dalvik cache to /cache
updated youtube and moved to /system

Alright I'm pretty sure I know the issue. Easy fix but I'm headed to a friends anniversary celebration. It stinks cause it's a 10 second fix but I have no PC. Thanks for testing though. Not having a device your working on is a PITA lmfao
