Default How hot is too hot for your phone to get?

    Hi, Guys.

New the the forum and new to a "Smart Phone".

Anyway this Optimus Slider I have is my 1st android phone and seem to be pretty happy with it over all.

My question is; After I play some games I downloaded from the android market, my phone seems to get pretty hot. I say hot because the temperature is showing sometime 120-125 degrees F. That is after about 35 minutes of playing Coin Pirates, or when ever my son plays Angry birds.

The app I am using to show the temp is Battery Indicator.

Also, of course my battery is not lasting a real long time either. (I do have Juice Defender enabled)

Does anyone else have this issue with there phones getting this warm.

    Should I be concerned?

No, it is not rooted. I am hesitant to root, I don't know much about rooting yet.

    Thank You.

This has happened to me on every single Smart device I've owned (iPhone, Optimus Slider, Wildfire S, iPod touch), especially after charging.

I havent noticed it too terribly much on my OS though... could turning down the CPU with CPUTuner or similar help?

If your phone gets to hot. A pop up will appear telling you to remove the battery and place it in a cool place. So if your phone hasn't done that yet, you'll be fine.
I experienced that a few weeks ago when I had my optimus on a car port next to the heat vent in my car.

    Thank You for the replies.

I guess it seems I don't have much to worry about.

I have not had any notification from the phone telling me the battery is too hot.

Its when it was getting around 125 it had me concerned.

I am looking @ the root idea. I have read a little about it and remember reading something to the effect that after its rooted, adjusting the CPU will help with the battery and temperature. Don't know if that's true or not.

    Thanks.

I would say that anything above 110 is too hot. Ive been having the same problem with my phone for months so i went to the market place and typed in cool down phone. I found this app named cool down and it actually helped quite a bit.

60*C (About 140*F) is when you want to worry. CPU's can take a good amount of heat. Under load a heat-up is to be expected.

I remeber that wen mine was brand new, it used to get really hot, but it stopped happining after a few weeks, also dump juice defender, it accullay makes the battery life worse, can make the battery heat up, and makes it hard to get a 3G connection

my phone (Droid Razr 32gb) regularly gets to about 120 F with moderately heavy use but the other day my temperature monitor was reading 170 F (Not a joke) it was so hot couldn't use it without hurting my hand, so i put it in the freezer for 20 min. could this have caused any damage that i don't know about yet, it seems to be working fine other than apps are CONSTANTLY not responding.
