If it is software based I'm staying if not they can keep their stupid phone I'll flash back to normal ROM and unroot and turn it in for warranty because it keeps on rebooting then sell it to buy a droid to use on page plus. I wonder if they will charge less for people who use less because I'd pay $10 per GB for data.

Probably network based. I'm almost certain on that, they'd need to update the phones if they wanted to make it software based, and we all know VM doesn't push updates... Even with the throttling, I get less then the speeds they say they will throttle to anyway so it doesn't make a difference.

do you monitor your own data use?

on purely 3G do you ever use more than 2.5 gb of data?

I come to just about 2gb on 3G, thats counting all the streaming audio, youtube, netflix. im NOT counting the stuff I do on wifi. but i only use wifi at home or friends houses who have it. so that never amounts to as much either way.


This data cap most likely wont affect 99% of users. or else they wouldnt do it. if the AVERAGE data use the higher, the data cap would be moved accordingly.


if I was still tethering to my PC, than yeah it would have bothered me. on tether I use more than 2.5 a month. but were not supposed to be doing that anyways so its really just eliminating those people from the network anyways, which makes it better for the rest of us.

I really don't see how they could throttle speeds when the speeds are just retched already. The cap I can see for some people that get really good, I mean super good, data speeds in their area. Everyone else that gets like what anthonycr gets (that's is just funny as hell), better have WiFi.

Lol usually I get better than that somehwere like 300 kbps, i get the bad speeds at my collegeat my college. Funny thing is there's a cell tower on the tech building on campus so I have full bars all the time, I'm guessing all the students using their phones on campus is what's destroys bandwidth down to an anorexic 1 kbps

Some states in the USA have been throttled sense Nov.

This has already been stated last month on a posting here in the V section.

The throttle isent that bad anyways sense it will be set at 254KB's..
Then again I've never hit any higher then 325KBs so who knows.

Either way it's still unlimited & the effects on the limit shoulded effect many as anything is better then being stuck at 21K with CDMA only.

Looks like after 2.5GB they are going to boost my speeds! Although I don't know how you could use that much bandwidth with 100kbps speeds I'm seeing.

I doubt I'll even notice if VM starts throttling me. My 3G is normally barely usable at best. I always have to point the back of my phone NE to even get a page to load. Can't imagine the service being crappier than it already is. And the fact that they just increased the price on 2 of the 3 plans by 40% just adds insult to injury. Its the old one-two punch, jack up the price AND make the service crappier.

Seeya good luck finding a prepaid that will give you anything near this for the price.

People like this guy is the reason for throttling. He is also the reason my troll radar goes haywire and I have to resist the urge to respond appropriately.
