Default Optimus V - recognized again as "one of the best pre-paid phones"

Online retailers often have great bargains on certain smartphones that may usurp the deals offered by the carriers. Walmart, for example, is currently offering the LG Optimus V for $99.99, a $20 reduction on the device at Virgin’s own site. This Android smartphone runs an older version of Google’s operating system (Android 2.2), but that should still serve many people just fine. It has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, and boasts Swype text entry for easy virtual keyboard input.

Not a surprise, it really is a good little phone.

It's compact, cheap, durable, and capable. It's only real drawbacks are mostly related to it's age, but it still does everything asked of it and does it all quite well really (especially with a good rom). It's perfect for kids and active teenagers (who tend to break things), or anyone else for that matter who needs a cheap durable phone.

I agree fully, that's really the only thing bothering me about the OV, but yea, it's a good phone for a decent price.

    That is an age issue.
Apps have gotten larger and memory has become cheaper.

Root, rom, and use sd-ext or whatever, and that problem will be gone.

My biggest complaint is the Netflix lag. GOD its annoying...and I'm even running Harmonia 2 with the smartassv2 overclock at 825 MHz.

I have found that memory issues are largely due to mismanagement of YOUR stuff. We have 2 OV's in my house & enjoying life! My old man's is used for business. He has some very big apps running on Backside IHO. Gangbook w/ 114 contacts ( listings include addresses, emails, IM info..etc) AOL AIM app. Beat the Traffic, Olive Office Premium, Time Sheet, & Angry Birds in case he gets bored? You get the picture. He's used about 45% of avail memory and has a 8g sandisk sd card. Box.net storage holds the old files that don't sync to Google. The deal is...bookmark all websites you frequent instead of loading the apps. The rest can be kept organized with a file manager. His last phone was a Samsung Intercept which couldn't handle the job. Now his boss w/ iphone 4s in hand can't figure out how his "POS" ( according to him) phone gets things done so fast! NICE! ORGANIZATION BUDDY!
