Re: Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?
I just got into upgrading my OV because i didn't think VM would come out with anything i liked better anytime soon. I even thought about switching carriers so i could get a 3d, now i don't have to! And as for the price - if you have to worry about it, should you really be looking into buying new gadgets to begin with?
Now just to figure out who to give my newly tricked out V to?

See, I read things like this and then I read things like "oh, there was just a bad batch and cm7 solves all the problems." I doubt they will take the phone to an under 200 price range which is the only way I'd consider itI had the Triumph for 3 days. I'd beg you for your sake not to bother getting it. It really is about as bad as most reviews say. The worst part is there is virtually no devs focusing on the triumph. A dead end IMO.Originally Posted by cole2kb

Re: Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?
It's $220 on Amazon now and it has dropped sub-$200 a few times. I got mine for $130 on Black Friday last year and for the price I paid, it is worth it. I put CM7 on it and have been really happy. I love the bigger screen, increased space and speed so much, I can't make myself go back to the OV despite the few nagging issues. For reference I had an OV with Bumblebee before I switched.
For the MT, the pros are: Speed, Screen, Space
the cons are:
GPS lock (takes at least twice as long as my OV did)
occasionally a capacitive button will stop working for a little bit (I'll press home and it won't do anything, so I will have to hit back to make to do anything)
The reception is somewhat worse the the OV (but not drastically so)
To make the phone work well, I put on CM7 (gingerbread), which doesn't have HDMI out, which I wish I had.
The most annoying bug though is an audio one. This one drives me crazy. It depends on the audio app you are using, but, for example, if you listen to Pandora and hook your phone up to headphones or an Aux input in your car like I do, then get a text or email or other notification, it cuts the volume by half or so. In the past, it would only come back if you paused the audio app for 5-10 seconds and started back. Lately, with Pandora, when it switches to the next song, the volume often comes back, which means it is super loud all of a sudden. This bug alone is almost worth switching back since I use my phone to listen to music in my car a lot. All roms (even the stock one) have it, although some seem to get hit by it more than others (when I used the MUIU rom, it didn't seem quite as often).
Anyway, for $130, it is worth it, for more, I'm not so sure. I really want the new Evo 3d when it comes out, but my major sticking point is that it would up me from the $25 plan to the $35. At that price, it makes me think I should just go to simple mobile and get unlimited everything for $40. - 05-08-2012, 03:29 PM #59

Re: Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?
I'll take a 1 year old top of the line phone before a brand new mid level phone. Fresh phone or not, it's still one of the best phones out on CDMA. The Evo 3d was waaay ahead of it's time, even 2 year old EVo 4g's run fast enough and these have more than twice the power.
By the way, the processor in the 3d isn't a 1.2 dual core, it's actually an underclocked 1.5 dual core, and you can unlock it.

Wait, they disabled the 3d? Ridiculous. For what reason?

Re: Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?
Looks like it will be the HTC One V for me. Just checked 4g coverage and won't have it in my area. Besides, I really don't like the size of the Evo. I don't feel like carrying a brick around in my pocket. A 1 gig CPU, 3.7"screen and ICS is enough for me. Anyway, I can't see spending $300 for a phone. (Even if my wife would let me.)

Just read that the release date is officially may 31 for the evo3d.
Not sure if this was out yet on here.
Looks nice.

Re: Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?
I agree to a point, the size is borderline in my opinion, but the greater size and resolution is nice. I won't go below 4in, but I also don't want more than 4.3. Smaller and the screen just can't fit anymore data, much larger and it's a hassle to carry. I looked at some 4.65 and 5inch screens the other night, and they dwarfed my Evo. No thank you. I'll buy a real Tablet at that point. Guys should be okay with a thin framed 4.3, your pockets are bit bigger.
The OneV won't be bad, it's similar in performance to the Evo 4G (but smaller screen), which I have, and it is really nice to use. The only thing it can't handle, based on reports, is GTA3 (I haven't even tried). Otherwise for almost anything else, it's plenty fast. I certainly don't think any OV users will be disappointed with it. Triumph users will merely get a nicer phone and smaller screen, but I would buy the OneV long before a Triumph(unless the OneV turns out to be a bad phone, which I doubt). In fact, I plan on getting one for my mom to replace her Blackberry.
