so the phone that is receiving my VOIP call has a really bad echo. I'll say something in the receiving phone and it'll just echo it right back to me. I'm using CM7 and the integrated internet calling thing in the call settings. any help would be appreciated a lot

I'm having this issue as well with stock-x!..
However it only does it when on speaker phone on the V..

I'm using Csipsimple & sipgate with GV..
I'm sure on my end the issue is with Csipsimple.
But sense I'm not running CM7 I can not help much sense stock did'ent have intergreated VoIP~

Just noting that this issue is also on stock FW..

well i ended up realizing that the Optimus v had such a good microphone that when i was testing it in the recieving phone, the V was picking up what i was saying. so no errors.

I've noticed that as well.
However even on the lowest mic setting as well as speaker setting I am still getting an echo..
With Csipsimple there are many strings to play with including an echo tail time limit.
So I'm still doing testing on that as well.

Only way to rid the echo (while on speaker phone) was to mute the V.
