Don't feel too bad (well, ok, feel bad cuz I do too--for both of us). Most Of the time I can't even get a reading on speedtest.net. Last one was ping: 669ms; down: 2kbps; up: 4kbps. I have a Sprint phone (Centro that won't update PRL from 60681--our Rumor Touches show 60687, I believe) and I live in a 3G area. I didn't realize that VM didn't really have access to the Sprint network--only to parts of it, or I would have never purchased this phone. I'm more interested in data speed than call quality as that is why I purchased the Optimus V. I live in south central Florida.

EDIT: I changed my prl (see: http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=1677184 ) and appear to have improved speeds.

Hey, I've always gotten good speeds around Knoxville. Like 500kpbs+ and around 200Ms ping on average. I've never got anything that bad unless I'm on 1x. Have you ever changed your PRL cause I believe that helped me a lot.

High of 2000 kbps-ish, average typically in the 300-750 range.

For those testing 3g speeds, CHANGE THE SERVER.
The server we default to in Independence Missouri is often horribly bogged down and may not be showing you your true speeds.

Try at least one other server.
I went from 300k to 1.8meg the other day just swapping the server. Switching back brought me back down to 400.

I get 300kbs on bad days and 1.8 on good days; but on average days 500kb to 1mbs

I used to work for a telphone contractor, and im pretty sure the entire united states telephone/internet/cabletv infrastructure is routed through hubbed or at least centered around wichita KS

Ping- 760ms
Dwnload- 261kbps
Upload- 388kbps.
To my neighbor in Chantilly,Va. I'm not surprised at your results.
You live with neighbors like Dulles Airport, the Nat. Storm Center, and a main FAA center in your hood. I'm surprised you get any signal at all with all the overhead activity.

Try some servers outside of Kansas you may get a very different result.
