Waddafundraiser.org makes open source live wallpapers that are designed to be customized by replacing the graphics [and changing the name]. For examples of the variety of wallpapers that can be created please see our wallpapers on Play: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...s/developer?id=WaddaFundraiser&token=gNbylfak

We've recently developed a toolkit to make customizing our wallpapers easier and without the need of the Android SDK! We are looking for volunteers to help test the toolkit on multiple Windows and Linux platforms. If you'd like to create a cool custom 3D wallpaper all your own, are willing to install the Java JDK, and don't mind a few potential hiccups please read on!

There are two pieces needed to create a custom WaddaFundraiser wallpaper. The first is the aforementioned toolkit. The second is a wallpaper kit, which contains the working elements of the wallpaper. Here are the links:
Download WaddaFundraiser from SourceForge.net
Download WaddaFundraiser from SourceForge.net
These should be extracted into a new empty folder.

The wf_toolkit.zip file contains a README.txt that will describe how to package the customized wallpaper. The WaddaCube Kit does not yet contain instructions on how to customize it, but essentially the existing images can be replaced. Make sure to keep the original image sizes (mostly 256x256). Images can be added or removed for the various faces of the WaddaCube, which is comprised of six nested cubes where transparency allows inner cubes to be seen. The naming convention for the face images is "face<side>_<level>.png" where "side" identifies which cube face (1-6) and "level" is 1-6 from inner to outer levels of the nested cubes of the WaddaCube (each face has 6 levels for cool effects). Additional images are the core and background images. Image files can be removed or added depending on the effect you want. After the new images are in place then package up the wallpaper using the instructions in the README.txt file.

Note that the Java SDK (in addition to runtime) is required.

Please let us know if you have any questions and if you are willing, please download the two zip files and give it a go!

Thanks!

So far no bugs reported!

Did I neglect to mention that the customized wallpaper is 100% yours and you can do what you want with it? You can just enjoy it on your own devices or you can put it up on Google Play and charge money, and you keep the money! [For Google Play just make sure not to violate copyrights with the images you use.]

Best of all it is completely free!

Please post back to this post to let us know how it goes!

Wanting to make it so that people don't need to be Android developers to customize these wallpapers. Ideally it would just be "replace some images" and "run the toolkit" and Voila! out pops a live wallpaper apk suitable for the market! No Eclipse, no Android SDK, no figuring out how to sign APKs, etc.. And it's really almost there. The only thing holding up complete achievement of that goal is the "jarsigner" utility, which is why the requirement for the JDK (note: Android SDK and Eclipse are not required). So right now it is still just "replace some images" and "run the toolkit", one just has to have the JDK installed.

So that's what this post is all about.

[Having said that, WaddaFundraiser is an open source project and the complete source code along with the Eclipse files are available over on the sourceforge project page at: https://sourceforge.net/p/waddafundraiser/waddacube/ci/master/tree/, so it's all there and people can take and build it and modify it. Hopefully they come up with cool effects and contribute them back for all to enjoy.]

Thanks!
Andrew
