Help with my new Epic

I just got an Epic yesterday, my first smartphone ever, and so far absolutely love it. However, I spent a good part of yesterday downloading some apps for free ringtones and assigning them for certain people or notifications. However, I cannot get them to work. In fact I can't get any ringtone to work. The only thing the phone does is say "Call from_____, Call from____". I have looked through the book, tried to look online and my husband has tried to fix it, (He's had a Blackberry for years and is usually very knowledgable about these things), and even he can't figure it out. When I go to my contacts list, it says that the ringtone for that person is the one I downloaded, but it does not work. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Please help. I have spent more than a couple of hours trying to work on this and am very frustrated! Thanks.

Try this: go to menu/settings/voice-to-speech and make sure that "Speak incoming caller ID" is not checked.
