Note: This will wipe your Xoom

  1. You're going to need to have the Android SDK installed. You can download it here.
  2. Download the official HRI39 build from Motorola here.
  3. Unzip the files in MZ600_HRI39.zip and move or copy them to the /platform-tools folder in your SDK folder.
  4. Connect your Xoom to your computer.
  5. Type adb reboot bootloader. Wait for it to reboot into the bootloader.
  6. Type the following commands, waiting for each to finish before continuing:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
You've now successfully flashed your Xoom back to stock. Now it's time to relock the device.

Type fastboot oem lock, wait for the menu, the press the volume-down button. Then press the volume up button. It'll take a minute or so, then reboot. You're now completely back to stock and ready for the update.

I rooted my WFI xoom a couple of days ago and now I want to go back to stock and relock. When I follow the directions listed here I get an error that the boot.img can't be loaded. I am using HWI69 which is also what it is running currently. Thanks in advance for any help.

When I do this, my screen locks up at "Starting Fastboot protocol support."

It will not proceed with the Fastboot process. Is there anyway to make it proceed? I want to unroot my device so that I can run the update!

This is good info to know... so you can not update if u are unlocked and rooted? I rooted just to install adfree android and remove unwanted apps...

I have Korean xoom 3G version, could I apply this instruction to update my xoom?

Now, it has rooted and version of 3.0.1.

Regards

Re: [Guide] Unroot and re-lock Xoom via fastboot and official sys

after flashing a custom rom and rooting.. If all I wanted to do was lock the bootloader with fastboot oem lock, will this cause any issues?

Re: [Guide] Unroot and re-lock Xoom via fastboot and official sys

Mine failed at flashing system.img

"Failed to process command error (0x120003)"

Any help, anyone?

EDIT: I flashed the system.img again and was able to proceed... all else went exactly as written, but after doing the relock, the system comes up to the batwings
and says "Failed to boot LNX 0x0004
Starting RSD Mode 2"

Any suggestions now, a reset takes me right back to same screen... I can't even get to bootloader anymore

You can still get to fastboot. You need to hold the power and vol down button until the error appears. It will then go into fast boot. From there you can use the command line again.
