Reset asks for password?

Upon reseting the Acer 500 it comes up with a password request. Since I never used a password now what.
I reset serveral times including holding down the volume button etc. I finally called Acer and they said they have never heard of this particuliar problem. they indicated to send it to them for service.
Any ideas before I do that?

Did you factory reset or use the little reset port? Is your info backed up on Google?
So, this is different password than security password?

I reset from the menu. Then I tried another reset using the little push button on the side. Neither changed anything. It booted then showed a screen asking for my password.

First post and just joined yesterday? Any one lose an Acer 500 lately?
