Hi, I've been researching 10 inch tablets in the $300 range and at first glance the a700 seemed too good to be true with its resolution. After I read a few reviews about its poor performance, I decided to look elsewhere. Now amazon has the tablet for $279 and I was hoping to get some opinions from people who own the tablet. Has the jellybean or any other updates improved the performance, and do you think this tablet is worth getting over similarly priced tegra 3 tablets that only have a display of 1280x800 (Asus tf300, memo pad 10, toshiba excite pure)?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought I'd also suggest the Sony Xperia Tablet S, on sale right now at Woot.com (but only for 7 more hours).

"Worth it" is really hard to determine for other people. I got mine just a few weeks ago from Woot for $249 + tax & shipping. As B. Diddy noted, Woot has at least one tablet deal a week. Another place to look for deals is Gizmodo's daily 'dealzmodo' article.

But back to "worth it" ... you have to decide what you really want a tablet for. True HD for watching movies/tv shows was my primary purpose, so I don't really even need to overclock or flash a custom ROM. If you have specific graphics/gaming requirements, you might want to look elsewhere. The screen is really nice, but touch-sensitivity (lack thereof) is starting to bug me. I put an anti-glare protector on, but I don't think that's the only reason that I sometimes feel like I'm pounding on the thing. I bought a cheap stylus, but that hasn't helped. My last major gripe is that the device, for all practical purposes, does not charge over USB. Only the stock charger will charge it up and there is not a mobile charger that supplies the 12V required. Replacement A/C chargers also appear to be pretty hard to come by, so I hope mine doesn't die.

Everything else meets my expectations, but if I had more time (I wanted this tablet in time for a vacation I'm taking soon) I might have waited for the new Nexus 10.

Mine charges consistently at 4%per hour from almost any USB source. Nothing like using the proprietary charger, but certainly handy in a pinch.

Regarding screen sensitivity, be sure to go into settings.. Display.. Touch panel sensitivity, and select high. Makes a big improvement.

32 gb Asus TF700 with dock for $329. Refurbished, but still a great deal!

The stock charger is easily available directly from the Acer website, at a reasonable price, and till that arrives do as barotropic says, and use any standard charger.
