    Just saw this on Slickdeals:

32GB Amazon Fire Unlocked GSM Phone + 1-Year Amazon Prime Membership $199 + Free Shipping - Amazon Deals, Coupons and Promos

They are selling the phone $199.99 Off Contract and still including a year of Amazon Prime.

I have no need to get another phone, as I just got a new Nexus 6 a few days ago, but it includes a year of Prime and is off contract.

This seems to be as good as the HP Touchpad sale a couple years ago. Once developers got a hold of it, it was a damn fine Android Tablet.

I'm really not trying to thread crap, but OMG, this seems like a steal.

How will the free 1-year Prime work for existing Prime members? Will Amazon just add an additional year of Prime to your account?

On second thought, this phone is not worth $99. Amazon can't pay me to use the phone. Okay, fine, give me a $10 Amazon gift card and I'll take it off their hands.

if you are a prime member already when it comes time to renew they credit it for you so you are not paying the renewal of 99.00 thats how they give it to you free so your next renewal is on them.

Do you actually HAVE a Fire Phone? I didn't think so. If you did (and didn't have all the bias of the 6 month old negative reviews), you were able to step outside the Android "box" for a moment, you'd see that for $100, it's a really decent phone. It's Fire OS, not Android, so knowing that going in and not expecting it to replace your Samsung or Nexus device helps you to realize the phones potential.

Is the Fire Phone for everyone? Obviously not. Do all smartphone users need access to 5 million apps? They do not...the phone hardware is top-notch, especially for $100. SD800, 32GB RAM, unlocked, great graphics, connectivity, etc...you'd be hard-pressed to come up with an equivalent phone without contract and unlocked and brand new for $100.

I think if you take the phone and understand it is what it is, and don't compare it to a Samsung or generic Android, that the phone is a true STEAL for $100.

And, yes, I believe that in time, there will be new ROMS for it, OR, Amazon will add access to the Play Store, just like B&N did with their Nook HD+ a couple years ago.

It was a damn fine tablet before developers. The HP TouchPad was better than any Android tablet released at the time. Stock webOS. The problem was that HP ruined webOS.

My wife and I bought one today for a spare phone or to switch to for something different. The way we look at it, it's basically free for us despite paying $200. We have a prime membership so it will save us $100 the next time we renew it.

My wife pays $8 a month on our at&t bill for damage protection on her lg g3. With having the fire phone as a backup spare phone we are going to drop the damage protection plan.

So it really will work out for free with the $100 free prime membership that we would have paid to renew anyway, and with no longer paying the $8 for damage protection per month on her phone that will save us another $100 next year.

That is a brilliant way of looking at it. I don't have AT&T but was also considering getting one. I have been wanting an update iPod touch but don't want to get something that hasn't been updated in a few years. So I was thinking it might work as a media player/camera. Yes I have those abilities on my phone but I actually like to not use my phone for the camera or to play music. And I do surprisingly love my kindle fire HDX that I got as a gift last year.

I picked up one and received it Friday. It's actually a pretty good phone. I have AT&T and may drop my insurance also to save a little. I basically got mine free also. I got a nice credit by using my Chase card plus the Prime membership.

I'll take Fire OS over Touchwiz any day of the week, even the latest Touchwiz.

One thing I like about this phone is that it support a tons of 3G and LTE frequencies.

I haven't received mine yet, but it seems you sideload Google services and install Nova Launcher so it basically can do almost all the Android stuff.
