Can I transfer a video to my daughter's profile on her Kindle Fire HD7 Kids Edition so she can see it? I have videos that are already ripped and converted for KFHD, I can transfer them to the KFHD Photos folder via USB and play them on my profile. I just can't figure out how to get the videos to show in my daughter's profile. Is this blocked by the Kids Edition software layer or something?

Did you enable the gallery or file manager to be viewable/accessed in the profile? If not, then that could be the reason why. As long as that profile has access to the media files on the device then the videos should be viewable. If not, then something is blocked, and I'd suggest double checking the settings.

For what it's worth I'm having the same issue. Enabling the camera and photos for a kids profile only enables it for that profile.. photos/vids get stored with that profile. I'm looking for a way to transfer the parent profile camera roll photos to the kid's profile but see no way to do it. Very frustrating.

I think we had the same idea - get a kindle, put a big bumper case on it and use it to entertain kids on trips / when you need peace and quiet.

My resolution was to use my standard amazon profile - but using parental controls to lock down the rest of the tablet. Now it just shows a few basic tools and pics and videos. The navigation isn't super kid friendly - but at least I have hours of video that can now be played safely.

Hi. My solution for this is...

1. Install VLC player from Amazon app store in parent profile
2. Share that app with the child profile
3. Connect tablet to computer via USB whilst logged in to child profile
4. Copy media to "Movies" folder (although you can probably create new ones)
5. In child profile, run VLC and watch videos

I also initially assumed it would be required to upload the content to the parent profile and somehow share it. When that didn't work I then tried the simpler route and had success.

I wasn't able to share the in-built apps, hence installing VLC player from the app store. Which is massively better anyway.

I thought about doing the same thing. That works unless there are multiple accounts on the tablet that need to access the same videos. I have been poking around the file structure and m trying to find where the shared files are. If I could put then in a central location accessible by accounts I would rather do that. Anyone blue to find the child profile file structure from the parent account yet?

I solved this simply by getting myself a microSD card and using that to store the videos. After inserting it, that is available both on the child's profile and in the parent profiles. VLC - in my case - even prompted to scan the new media the first time around.

So this way one can seemingly avoid copying (which involved to disable the child mode, enable a file manager, make that available on the child profile, switch to the child profile, copy the files in place, switch to parent profile, make file manager unavailable to child profile, enable child mode again). So way simpler.

Give it a try. Since I had the same problem and solved it this way, I thought I should sign up and respond.

I stumbled upon this thread trying to do the same thing you guys are, setup a basic account for my daughter to just watch videos and thats it.

I used the VLC method posted above, and was wondering why the videos are not showing up.
I noticed that you have to have the child account open on your kindle and then open the internal storage folder in windows explorer, find the movies folder and then paste the videos into there.

It's wierd I know, but the folders get seperated when you change accounts, you'll notice in windows that the device closes and then opens again when you change profiles on your kindle device, and it's very easy to not notice that the folders have switched and you are not looking at what you think you are.

So the solution to what I quoted is:
0. Download VLC player on main profile and enable it on your kids profile.
1. Turn on your kindle and load your main profile (Assuming this is where you loaded your videos)
2. Open file explorer in windows and navigate: Fire > Internal Storage > Movies/Videos
3. CUT/paste all the videos you want into a folder on your HDD (Label it "kids vids" or something for ease) When done move to step 4.
4. On your Kindle, Load your kids profile. You'll notice in windows the device will disappear and then reappear after a few seconds.
5. Find the kids vids folder you made, then COPY/paste (Copy NOT cut, incase you need to move them again for whatever reason.) back into the Fire > Internal Storage > Movies/Videos folder.
6. Open vlc and refresh the content. Turn off the device and restart.

Hope this helps for anyone reading in the past or future, I know I struggled to find guides on this.

I could not get the UBS to connect to a freetime profile either but you can use a file manager that allows FTP sharing and upload the videos to the freetime profile. You just have use the add content on the tablet to add the file manager to the freetime profile then open it under the freetime profile and enable FTP sharing then upload from your computer to the FTP address it creates. This allows me to use the SD card as internal storage for apps and put the movies on it as well and all be accessible to freetime.

Once logged into your child's profile, at the top of the HD Fire tablet swipe down.
Press the Bluetooth icon for 3 seconds.
Enter your pin.
Select “USB”.
Select “File Transfer”.
Copy your media from your computer to the “Movies” folder on your tablet.
Run VLS and watch the videos
