Sideloading Books issue

OK, this may have already been asked, but I am new and haven?t seen this answered yet.

When I download MOBI files onto my Kindle Fire via USB, sometimes they show up under the BOOKS tab and sometimes they show up under the DOCS tab.

I have tried placing the files in the DOCUMENTS folder and also the BOOKS folder, but the results are the same, some show up as BOOKS and some show up as DOCS.

Is there any documentation on the proper way to sideload books to get them to show up properly only in the BOOKS tab?

I had the same problem. Apparently, the latest Kindle Fire OS update no longer reads the old Mobi files. They have to be converted, and the best program to do that with is Calibre, a free program you can download from: calibre - E-book management
