'Isn't Responding' Issue

Hello,
I am using an unlocked Moto Z4 running Android 10 build QDFS30.130-42-5-2.
For about a month or so since the update to Android 10 for this phone, I have been unable to access the photo/file gallery from other applications, such as trying to upload a file using the Google Drive app, or opening photos for upload into a twitter app or for editing in snapseed. When I open the file picker, I am given the following screen:

This is followed by the following screen, after about a minute:

I have tried clearing the cache and force stopping the "files" app, then restarting the phone, but this has not resolved the issue. Can anyone offer help? I haven't been able to find any other potential solutions to the problem.

You can try going into settings >apps>3 dots upper right corner tap >reset app preferences

Hello, will that reset preferences for all apps? I wouldn't want to try that unless you really think it would work. Is there a way to do it just for the Files app?

Yes it resets all the apps , well we need to start somewhere to figure your issue out .

Thanks for the reply. I actually managed to solve the issue by cache clear AND storage clear, then force stop and restart the phone.
